~ALINA’S POV~ Vince walked closer, each step deliberate, his shadow stretching over me like a predator cornering its prey. His eyes, dark and calculating, raked over my body, and I forced myself to hold that damn smile, even as my skin prickled with dread. My breath came in shallow, uneven bursts, sweat slicking my palms, but I couldn’t let him see, not yet. God, please let him believe me. He dropped his keys on the bedside table with a sharp clink, the sound making me flinch. His gaze swept the room, slow and methodical, as if searching for something out of place. My pulse hammered so loudly I was sure he could hear it. Breathe. Just breathe. “I asked you a question, Alina,” Vince said, sitting at the edge of the bed, his voice dangerously calm. “Why are you here?” I swallowed, forcing a laugh that sounded too high, too fake. “Um, Vince, I was just… really bored.
