Margot's POV' Was it a good idea? Maybe I should not be doing this?' I kept questioning myself with every step I took. A couple of times, I tried to get back and think about something, but instead, I kept pushing myself to move forward. I have spent a sleepless night analysing everything. Nicole's visit only showed me I had not much time left. I did not believe a single word she said, except that Sam used her as well. But unlike me, she would let him use her over and over again. Nicole always had a soft spot for Sam, and I knew she would happily take my place at the right opportunity. Now, she could have all of that, for what I cared. I was sure Nicole would use everything I said yesterday, and I let her know about my plans. I could almost imagine Sam's face when he would find out, and I found it hilarious. But now, I was having my doubts. When Sam finds out about my plan, it will push him to take some drastic actions. I could not predict what, but for sure, they would not be suita

Third-party POV " God damn it," I yelled, forcefully hitting my desk and making Nicole flinch in fear. " Are you sure about that?" " Positive," she replied, still shaking. " She is going to sell her projects to whoever pays the most." I plopped onto my chair, unable to stay still. This was impossible. I would not expect Margot to do it. She seemed attached to her work, almost treating those projects like her children. There were times when I teased her about that mercilessly. And now, she was willing to get rid of them like that. " Did she say when?" I looked at Nicole, who took a step back, frightened by my cold stare. "Nnno," Nicole mumbled, avoiding my eyes. " Look at me. There is something you are not telling me. Whatever it is, I am not going to be mad at you," I promised, but Nicole was still hesitating. " Speak up!" I raised my voice as my patience was wearing thin. " She seemed desperate," Nicole blurted out. " I think she is going to do it soon." Th

Margot's POV' This is madness.' Those words were spinning inside my head. We were supposed to be working together. Nathan was my partner, and we should not mix this with sex. This was crazy, and it could not end well for any of us. " Ready?" Nathan's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. He stretched his hand towards me, and a small smile curled his lips. ' Stop this, Margot, until it is not too late.'But against all that was happening in my head, I took his hand with a slight nod. His touch was gentle and warm. His thumb was moving slowly over my skin. ' I could get used to this.'This thought scared me. There was nothing I should get used to. Between us, there should only be business, with no extra benefits or fun activities. I was getting myself into so much trouble. My mind was messing with me, pushing me from one edge to another, since I was the one to offer a 'private' celebration. What was I thinking? We both knew how this all would end. " Why so quiet? I like your sharp t

Nathan's POVAfter an hour of calming down, Margot finally fell asleep. I have covered her with sheets and left a room to gather my thoughts. Anger was still boiling inside me as I poured myself a glass of whiskey. I had to remain calm if I wanted to help her. I could not let my emotions lead me, even if what I wanted right now was to tear Sam to shreds for the way he had made Margot feel. She acted tough, but his words cut deep. I am a man of my word, so I threw myself into action." Do you have an idea what time it is?" Lucy asked in her sleepy voice. " I am aware of how late it is," I replied, taking another sip of my drink. " Clearly not aware enough if you disturb me. If you wake up, Cassie, I am going to tear you a new one." I knew Lucy was not kidding. If there were someone she would go violent for, it was her wife. " Too late." Fu*k, I heard Cassie's voice. " You are screwed," Lucy hissed, making me tense. "You'd better tell me this call is about the end of the world, be

Margot's POV. Since Nathan told me about a surprise, I kept thinking about it. Was it another romantic dinner, or... My cheeks involuntarily blushed when my mind drifted back to the passionate s*x on the piano. It was a little like a Pretty Woman, except I was not a hired prostitute. ' Wow, focus, girl,' I scolded myself, focusing back on my work. It was neither time nor place to let my thoughts roam freely. Way too freely. Being a partner meant a lot of work, but for now, Nathan let me adjust to my new reality. He also gave me space, visiting occasionally, allowing me to focus on my projects. I did appreciate that, as whenever he showed up, I could barely think straight. This man was incredibly handsome; I could not deny it. I caught myself longing for his touch and kisses. I found myself staring at him for way longer than appropriate, during meetings that were supposed to be business. And I was sure he knew about the effect he had on me. I caught him glancing at me, while his l
