Jaxon POVI step onto the ice. Things with me and Erin have oddly gotten better. Her stupid late nights out, or full nights out, have stopped. She’s also backed off from accusing me of faking injuries when I’m not.She turns to face me, and I skate over to meet her.“Are you okay?” she asks with a smile, and I watch Paul skate off, leaving us alone.“I’m great. Got the all clear, so we can train again.” This past week has been hell, but I’m cleared now, and I want to get back on the ice.“I…” she trails off, glancing in Paul’s direction. “He’s got it figured out, so we’re good.”What? “He was meant to stand in until I could skate again,” I say, frowning.“Yeah, I know but…” She chews her lip, avoiding my eyes. “I was thinking we shouldn’t skate together anymore. It’s not good for our relationship, Jaxon.”Is that a joke? “For over a week, I’ve been pushing to get back on the ice and help. You haven’t once said you changed your mind.”“You didn’t have to,” she says, her tone defensive.

Jaxon POV“Fancy coming back to mine?” I ask, turning to Lauren. “We can start discussing a new routine. I’m not interested in reworking the ones I used with Erin. I want something different.”Lauren smiles, brushing her hair back. “Sure. What kind of different are we talking?”“Honestly?” I say, running a hand through my hair. “I don’t know yet. I just know I want it to stand out, completely separate from what I did with her.”She chews her lip thoughtfully and nods. We gather our things, and I drive us back to the house, both of us quiet as we start tossing ideas around in our heads. The streets are dark, the city lit up in fragments, and for once, the silence between us is comfortable.When we walk through the front door, the noise hits immediately, music thumping from the living room, voices carrying, laughter echoing from the kitchen. I catch a glimpse of people sprawled across the couch, drinks in hand, someone dancing half-dressed with a bottle held high.I don’t look for Ryker

Ryker POVShe just pushes me gently back until I hit the edge of the bed and sit down, staring up at her as she drops to her knees.“Okay, stop,” I say quickly, throwing up a hand.“Ryker,” she groans, clearly annoyed. “I want him to think you’re enjoying yourself, not being tortured.”“This is torture. I don’t like women. This plan is officially the dumbest thing we’ve come up with.”“He’s going to walk in and see you. That’s all we need. He won’t know how much of a failure this is unless you make it obvious.”I shake my head, exasperated, but she pushes on.“Just close your eyes,” she says. “Think of someone you do like. I don’t, though, because those words replay in my head like the devil carving into my soul.I made him feel like he’s nothing. Jaxon POVMy hands fly into his hair, gripping tight as he takes me deeper. His tongue drags along the underside of my length, and I curse through clenched teeth. He hums, and the vibration shoots straight through me.“Ryker...” I groan, breath catching as his fingers dig into my hips, holding me down. He moves faster, taking more, gagging slightly, and it wrecks me. I’m close, way too close, but I don’t want to stop. I don’t want to go back to reality. Not yet.A knock cuts through the haze.“Ryker?”Erin’s voice.Panic slams into me like a truck, but Ryker doesn’t stop.
