Chapter 73Valerie Will~•~“Jesus, Val!” Alexis exclaimed as she stepped into my room. “Don’t tell me that you’ve been living like this for the past two weeks.” I flinched my eyes as soon as she opened the curtains. The light coming from the window was too bright. Chapter 75Valerie Will~•~Alexis and I spent a few hours at the beauty salon. She wanted me to have an entire makeover. She assured me that I would feel better after changing my hair and getting my nails done. And it wasn’t a lie. I felt better. I let out a deep breath as we made our way out of the salon. “How do you feel?” Alexis smiled at me as we approached the car.“Even if I still feel miserable inside of me, I feel great because I look great,” I admitted, the excitement palpable in my voice. Alexis chuckled. “I’m so happy you agreed to do this.” She said as we stepped into the car. “If I had known that all it would take was marching down to your house, I would have done it a long time ago.” I couldn’t help but laugh. I was grateful to Alexis. Even if I tried pushing her away and icing her out, she still found time to be there for me with her busy schedule. You should have answered the call.” She added as she passed me my phone. “I know I should have answered, you don’t have to shove it on my face,” I screamed at her, feeling an excruciating pain in my chest. I was still trying to process what I had just read and I didn’t need her to make me feel bad for ignoring his calls the first time. Chapter 79Patrick Banks~•~I froze mid-step as my eyes landed on Jamal. My heart skipped a beat. What was he doing in New York? Why was he with Valerie? I thought that their relationship had ended. I let out a frustrated sigh when I realized that it was my fault. I was the one who called him when I couldn’t reach Valerie. I just hoped that he was just here for Liam and he wasn’t getting back together with Valerie. I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if I turned out to be the reason why they reconciled. “Get it together, Patrick. You should be thinking about your son’s recovery right now.” I muttered to myself as I walked over to the hospital reception to meet them. “Where is Liam?” Valerie asked as soon as she saw me. “He’s in the last room down the hall.” I gave her directions and turned over to look at Jamal.
