We had an ice cream desert and then i took him home. Treating his injuries and helped him with his assignments. We spent the rest of the evening having fun and playing brain puzzles until Dean cuddled into my lap, deeply asleep. I leaned my head against the sofa, listening to his soft steady breathing as he curled his little hands into fists. I was just about dozing off when i heard the high pitched sound of someone dialing the keypad. My eyelids shot wide open, my alerted senses heightening - a defense mechanism i had built up during my two years abroad. "You aren't asleep yet?" - Richard appeared in the living room, holding on to a brown envelope. He stared at me before settling his gaze on the sleeping child. "No." - I lied flatly, only that it wasn't entirely a lie. He smiled briefly, his exhaustion evident on his handsome face. "But he seems like he's been sleeping for a while." He stepped up to me, his roughly calloused hands reaching out for the child. "Next time

"Miss Selene, someone is here for you" I raised my head that had been buried in a huge pile of files, my eyes staring at the female attendant. "Who?" "I don't know who she is?. She just handed me this contact card - said you would remember once you actually saw it." - The lady walked up to me briskly, placing a small black card on my desk. I picked up the card, twirling it around for a while. "It's mine." "You can let her in - She's an acquaintance of mine." - I smiled briefly at the tall lady before resuming my work. The door opened a few moments later, the soft sound attracted my gaze. The middle aged lady appeared, dressed in black clothes. Her expression was solemn, her skin was as pale as paper and her eyes were deeply hollowed like she hadn't slept a wink. Overall, her state was more destitute than it was at the police station. Her daughter followed her in, the exact opposite of what her mother actually was- cheerful and youthful. "Madam, kindly have a seat." - I

Her voice was soft, mellow and kind . Bearing an uncanny resemblance to someone whom i had never gotten a chance to speak to in over a decade. My mom. My eyes stung as i raised my head gently staring at the ceiling, fighting back the unshed tears."Dear, are you okay?" - She placed her hands on my shoulder with a warm smile on her lips.I nodded my head slowly, giving a low smile. "I'm fine." She turned her eyes, her soft gaze lingering on Dean who was resting on my shoulders. "Isn't he too heavy for you?, let him down for a moment.”"Dean, the cookies are ready...... you can go ahead and have some now." - She stroked his back with her hands."Okay." - Dean hopped down from my arm, sprinting towards the tray of cookies and milk.I stood there, watching as he gobbled down two cookies at once. His cheeks were full and some crumbs fell out of his mouth since it couldn't contain it all."Don't choke on them." Dean nodded again, his attention solely on the cookies as he didn't spare

I yawned, feeling exhausted as I stretched up a bit - seven hours of back to back acting had taken a huge toll on my joints, every part of my body ached miserably.I passed by Irina's lockeroom, the sound of a loud smack ringing in my ears. I turned my head sharply towards the direction of the sound, curiosity getting the better of me as i hid beside the door, peeping through the small open gap.Irina stood, slightly hunched over, fuming as she held tightly to a three tongued whip. "Just one job and you couldn't afford to do that well." - She screamed out shrilly. "I'm sorry, Miss. I'm really sorry......... i followed each one of your instructions, but i don't know what went wrong." The female assistant held on to Irina's leg, crying and pleading. " You're sorry?. You're sorry?!." - She raised her head, scoffing loudly. " Thanks to your foolish incompetence, that wench was able to scale through that and had everything working in her favour."I frowned, knowing fully well that i

"So...... will you be attending?" His hands were all over the keyboard, his head deeply buried in what he was doing. I stared at him lazily, stretching as i sat on the desk. "Most definitely - it would be rude of me not to." He parted his lips, a soft 'Oh!' escaping them as he nodded his head in understanding. " Done." He turned the laptop so that the screen would be more visible to me. I gazed blankly at the more defined picture, and it was as i had previously suspected - a pregnancy report. Richard sighed, throwing his head backwards as he leaned into his seat. He had his arms folded, eyebrows raised as if asking 'what I needed the picture for ' , but even so, he never asked me about it directly. "Don't look at me like that, this is a present for someone." ........ ....... ........ The banquet party was filled with extinguished guests, a few popular celebrities and business partners. The sound of glasses clinking filled the halls as people socialized, Richard s
