A Promise To Forever のすべてのチャプター: チャプター 51 - チャプター 60

My relief was short lived because apparently, the explosions were not over yet. The pickup truck that had crashed to us suddenly exploded and bits and pieces started flying off to multiple directions. I quickly shielded Eva, trying to save her head and abdomen because those were what had killed our parents. I heard distant sirens coming towards us and felt some hope blossom. But before that spark of hope could light into a fire, something heavy landed on the back of my head and I closed my eyes. All these memories hit my brain, igniting a painful fire inside. For the first time in so many months, I truly missed my parents. I felt their loss for the first time. Unable to take the pain any more, I screamed. I didn't care where I was and screamed, crying for my parents for the first time.Eva had apparently heard my scream and rushed to me, hopping in her crutches. But I didn't notice it. I was too deep in my sorrow that I didn't notice my sister rushing down the stairs, which she had nev

"No, I don't. I mean, I remember some of the moments we spent together. There are these vague memories in my mind of our childhood and I know it in my heart that what we had back then, our friendship was special. I remember almost all of our special moments, but I can't remember his face. As I told you yesterday, the only faces I remember from my past are of my family, and I think that's because I kept seeing them. At least, I kept seeing Eva as we lived together after the accident. Gran, Gramps and Eva showed me plenty of pictures of my parents and I think those images replaced the blurry ones in my brain. Well, that's what the therapist said. But the rest of the people, like him, or his parents, I can't remember their faces."We were both quiet for sometime. He looked to be deep in his thoughts once again and I was lost in my childhood memories, some of the only memories of my past that made me smile. Those memories brought a feeling of deep longing in the core of my heart and I let

After few more minutes of his brother's one sided conversation, Adrian must've finally realised that he hadn't really introduced me to his family. He moved close to me, deliberately creating some distance between me and his brother. "Evelyn, meet my family. You already know Jade and Brandon. Oh, you've met dad as well. Meet my mom, Brittany Stone and this rascal, who unfortunately happens to be my brother. Guys, she's Evelyn White, my... bestfriend." He finished the sentence with a wink my way at the last word and I rolled my eyes."Woahhh. Ad, you're Evelyn White's best friend? Why didn't I know of it before? I'd have met her sooner!" Aaron whined at his brother and winked at me. I shook my head at his antiques. It was confirmed then. Smirk, wink and arrogance ran in the veins of the Stones."Okay, now that the introductions are over, shall we eat too? I'm sure poor Brand is about to pass out here." Mr. Stone interjected and we all looked at Brandon who did, in fact, look like he cou

3:03 AM.I was still as wide awake as I'd been three hours ago. As soon as my brain registered the photo, I'd rushed over to my room and hurriedly taken out the shoebox that held my priceless treasures. I'd sighed with relief when I'd found the small t-shirt untouched, still in the same condition like I'd kept it in. It was the only thing I still had to bind me to my Mickey. Then I'd proceeded to examine the evidences that would confirm my suspicions. And that was what I'd been doing since then. Once again, I looked at the photo of the children carefully and back to the t-shirt in my hand, then to the numerous childhood photos of mine scattered all over my bed. But no matter how many times I looked at it, the fact still stood there proudly. The fact that the photo was, indeed, mine. Mine and my Addie's.Closing my eyes, I recalled all the conversations I had with Adrian. Slowly, everything started clearing up. How he'd known about my favorite flower, my favorite blueberry muffins, his

I'd actually come near you a few times as a stranger passing by, or sometimes as another student in your college library. I'd even talked to you once as I sat by you in the Starbucks as there were no other tables available. I hadn't anticipated that, I was nervous like a teenager. But at the same time I wanted to speak to you, tell you that I'd found you." He shook his head ruefully. "But as you spoke to me, I realized that you didn't recognize me. You looked right into my eyes but I saw no recognition there. You've no idea how much it hurt. Even without knowing, you planted a dagger right into my heart through your indifferent eyes."I was shocked at his words. I tried to recall any time I might have seen him during my college days but couldn't come up with anything. My college experience had always been a blur of activities to me. I'd never really paid attention to anything other than acing my studies to find a well-paying job for Eva's treatment. Besides, I didn't remember what he
