Ava’s POVThe wind whipped through my hair as we ascended the winding mountain path. The rugged terrain was a stark contrast to the lush forests and rolling hills I had seen before in the places we had passed. I followed Kyle and his men, the sound of my boots crushing and echoing against the rocky slopes, my mind buzzing with anticipation. I had expected to see a remote outpost, a hidden refuge nestled amongst the mountains, or even a cluster of ancient, or worn out buildings clinging to the mountainside. What I hadn’t expected was this.As we rounded a final bend in the path, a breathtaking view unfolded right before my eyes. I didn't fail to notice a sprawling view, carved into the very heart of the mountains, the breathtaking view temporarily sweeping my breath away. Beautiful houses with well trimmed gardens glittered in the afternoon sun, their modern architecture a sharp contrast to the ancient stone of the surrounding peaks. Smooth, paved roads snaked through the whole place.
