She then hands me the cup that I immediately throw back without thinking. The effects are immediate, something I wasn’t prepared for. I would have collapsed from the pain, from the explosion occurring in my head had my father not been right beside me. He moves behind me and wraps his arms around me, keeping me standing while my legs buckle. ‘Deep breaths Damian. Keep a neutral face. I promise we worked this out as a potential.’ I swallow my desire to whine and opt for squeezing my father’s hands instead. My mom’s scent has left but Amelia’s has become stronger just before feeling her touch on my temples. I can hear her murmuring as she rubs clockwise. I shift my feet, struggling to stay standing as they attempt to help me through the pain. It’s only as it quiets that Amelia speaks aloud again. “Blessings to your childhood past. Blessings for your journey into manhood. Blessings for your future leadership. Blessings for a loving partner. Blessings for a safe life. Blessings for your

I walk slowly towards the revolting smell of mixed bodily fluids not knowing what I was going to find. ‘Parker, how far away are you guys?’ ‘We got a little mixed up when you took off. I understood that you had detected intruders as that’s the only reason your wolf takes off like that, considering you’re the newest shifter in the group. Fortunately, we all stayed together and I encouraged finding the mule left on the wide trail leading directly to the medical wing. That’s where we are now. I can smell you, are you on the smaller trail we created that leads directly to Blue Ridge.’ ‘Yes sir.’ I confirm with my beta. ‘We should make it easy and call it the Blue Ridge trail.’ I laugh nonchalantly until I see them. A much larger group than I was expecting pauses just twenty feet down the trail. I pause my own advancement as I study the group. ‘Dad, how close are you?’ I join my current link with Parker with my dad. ‘About five minutes.’ ‘I don’t think he has the extra time but he

“At first my feet were flat on the ground until they started crying. I tried to turn to face them but they jacked my arms higher so I barely touched the floor. I didn’t hear any hitting but I know they were injured in some way. Hearing them scream was worse than receiving my own torture.” A sudden yelp results in the children screaming frantically. I lift my head in time to see the chaos unfolding. Celine has Helen in an innocent hug, trying to comfort her as she bawls but she must have hit an injury to cause her to yelp, sending the boys into an uncontrollable frenzy. Both are nude from the waist down but that doesn’t keep them from trying to get to their mother. I close my eyes as Amber rolls in my hands, crying hysterically as well. I seek out my wolf’s assistance. I need my alpha aura to convey my dominance without overpowering and scaring them. They have been through far too much for that to calm them. What I need is comfort but without my mate being discovered yet the only oth

“No, no, no. Not her. Please goddess what kind of alpha would do this.” Her voice is low as if she doesn’t want anyone else to hear. “Georgia, I need a lancet and quick silver test.” She calls out as she gently pulls the child’s arms from their sleeves. Georgia comes over quickly, setting a bin down on the bed. “Grab a second one and test the mother.” She states quickly as she tears the supplies open. “I’m sorry sweet girl.” She murmurs as she wipes the child’s middle finger with alcohol. The pup barely stirs as her finger is pricked alerting me towards the difference between her and her twin. She quickly collects several drops of blood into a thin glass tube before placing it upside down into a specialized machine. She grabs the timer sitting inside the bin brought over, a simple white egg timer, and sets it for five minutes placing it beside the miniature machine that’s analyzing the blood. “I need you to finish getting her out of the coat. Here is a gown and blanket to cover

“Jessa, it’s very important that you give me an indicator that you are listening.” “Yes ma’am.” She takes several deep breaths. “It’s important for you and Demetri to understand that your difficulties with trust are to be expected. While change is slow, the council is working hard to change the perception that many alphas have on empaths. I promise, they are trying. I am Dr. Vivian Romero. I’m not just an expert in silver addition and poisoning but I’m an empath as well. My biological daughter, Daniela, and my adopted daughter, Cora, are empaths as well. I would like the opportunity to work with you, Demetri and Angela on teaching you.” She pauses a moment. “Why did you tell me that?” “I need your trust, Jessa. Just like I’m trusting you on what you feel when it comes to this infant. Do you have a name for her?” “Her name is Amber and she’ll be a year old on the twentieth.” I interrupt. “Thank you Damian.” She nods before slowly taking the phone from dad’s hand. “From what I ca
