Chapter 81

IRIS. “Are you trying to burn the house, little bird?” He lifted an eyebrow while adjusting his coat around my shoulders. He was so close, and with the way my body jerked whenever he adjusted the coat, I might slam my face on his body so I raised my hands up, ready to press them against his chest, only for me to remember I had been holding branches and leaves. He saw my hands hanging in the space between us. He let go of his coat and grabbed my hands before pressing them on his chest. “You’re allowed to touch me.”“No… My hands are dirty. Your shirt.” I exclaimed.“I can always change my shirt…”I shook my head as I smoothed the front of his clothes before tilting my head to meet his gaze. “I prepared that…”“You can also choose the next one…” He smiled at me and I felt myself melting. “Thank you for preparing my things and allowing me to use your bathroom.”I smiled sweetly this time, my stomach churning from giddiness. “You’re welcome, Draco. You look good without too much facial ha

Chapter 82

IRIS. Draco and I had never discussed again about me leaving. He was back to being attentive and had told me again that if there was anything I needed, I should tell him first, not Roman or Liam. He also spent time with me at the shed, teaching me how to make fire using what I could find in the forest. I must say I was impressed. Despite having office clothes, he wasn’t afraid to get dirty and dusty as he crouched and kneeled beside me so he could show me the exact way to hold the branches or the broken glass. And I could tell I was not the only one amazed because I had seen most of the helpers peering through the windows and looking at us from time to time. As for the intimate moment in that shed, it happened again.I knew the first time we did it, someone heard us because Mirelle winked at me when we came in and Draco wasn’t looking. But even if my mind told me that I should stop letting my lust for him take over, my body wasn’t obeying. I was drawn to him, no doubt about that.

IRIS.“Don’t make me feel more special than I am…” I mumbled, not really sure he heard it because he didn’t say anything and just kept rubbing his palm against my back underneath the blanket covering us.I regretted saying that because it only reminded me that he needed me to get a favor from the princess. This was already a valid reason for him to keep an eye on me. But then I was also sure that if I died or someone took me away from him, he could always get another girl to play his Luna. So a part of me wondered why he was all out in protecting me, to the point he was killing people to keep me safe. But I got my answer just before we left his home. Draco sat and talked to me about Princess Adessa. He told me that the princess had special powers, one of which was the ability to heal physical injuries. He had also believed she could heal him —his infertility. The princess didn’t promise to help him, but told him that if he could find a woman who deserved to be a mother for his chil

Chapter 84

DRACO.We landed at the airstrip designated for guests visiting the kingdom, where we were immediately informed that we would be taken to a manor assigned to us. At the same time, my Beta would be driven outside the perimeters of Absalom and to the hotel we booked for him.I could tell Iris was nervous, and I couldn’t blame her. No one was smiling at us—from the security that met us to the driver of the limousine that was taking us to the manor.“Relax…” I squeezed her hand that I was holding and resting on her thigh. We were still inside the car. “I’m here. You have nothing to worry about.”She nodded and placed another hand over mine before she began massaging it. “Do you need to meet them without me? Can I come with you then? I don’t think I want to be alone somewhere here.”I withdrew my left hand from her hold and replaced it with my right hand so I could wrap an arm around her and pull her closer to me. “I won’t leave you alone. If ever I need to speak with anyone alone, I will m

IRIS. Draco placed a finger on my lips to silence me, and that made me nervous. I was glad that he kept holding me as we walked toward the door.“Fuck!” I heard him mutter under his breath. It was as if he didn’t want me to hear him say that. He then swiftly turned around to face me. “No matter what happens, don’t come out of the room. I’ll be fine.”I nodded, although I wasn’t sure I could keep that promise because there was no way I would just stand here if it was dangerous for him out there. I watched as he slightly opened the door and slipped out, not leaving a gap for me to see outside. “What are you doing here?” He asked as he pulled the door closed. But before it could totally close, the person he asked responded. “I heard you had arrived.”My mouth hung open as my hands went to my chest. I hadn’t seen her in three years, but I knew her voice. I used to have nightmares about the sound of her laugh. I couldn’t be mistaken. My chest heaved as I pressed my ear against the doo

IRIS. “Iris… Your eyes…” He mumbled, his eyes fixated on my face like he was looking directly at my soul. And I had no idea if he even heard what I asked of him.He might be acting like this to get away from the question, but Draco was not the type. If he would rather not answer anything, he would tell me directly. “Answer me…” I snapped at him, taking his hand off my elbow. “Your eyes went totally black…”“Stop!”“But those were not a wolf’s eyes…” He continued. My forehead creased as I felt torn between lashing out at him and asking what he was talking about, but he was already muttering under his breath. “Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!” He dashed to the door and locked it, including the double locks, before he grabbed my elbow and dragged me toward our bedroom. “Let me go!” No matter how I tried to break free from him, he wasn’t letting go.Once we were inside the room, he shut the door and locked it. Then he walked toward the windows and closed them, drawing the curtains closed. I had n

FELICITY. “What do you mean you saw Iris?” Mom asked, interrupting me from talking. As soon as I headed back to our wing inside the Royal Palace, I made sure my husband, Esmond, was not around before I ordered my lady-in-waiting to call my mother, and then I sent her out of my chambers after. “You told me she was dead!” I was almost screaming, breathing through my mouth. I didn’t want to be hysterical, but I had every right to. Iris being alive would mean a permanent jeopardy to my wolf, or worse, me.“Can you speak clearly and explain everything to me? Stop crying!”“She’s alive! She’s alive, and she’s with Draco!”“Are you sure? The man who found her told me she was dead!”“Did you see her corpse?”“No! Why would I want to see her dead body?” She snapped at me.“Oh, how stupid can you be?! Why did you not make sure she was really dead? I’m sure it was her that I saw and Draco called her Iris, so it was really her!” This time, my shoulders shook with my sobs. This was not part of

FELICITY. (continuation of the flashback)“The safest way to go is to kill her.” A grin so wicked formed on her dry, black lips before an evil cackle left her throat. “Why don’t you kill her now?” Mom asked. “You need her alive for the next full moon until her spirit settles with your wolf. After that, you can kill her. “That’s twenty days from now.”“Give me her body once she’s dead. I want to play with it using my magic.”“I will have to figure out how to give her whole body to you, as I’m sure my husband will order a cremation right away,” Mom replied. “But you said she’d be asleep for ten days?”“Yes. Losing her wolf spirit is weakening her. After ten days, she’ll wake up as if nothing happened to her.”----------“You told us she’d be asleep for ten days! She woke up today!” I was back at her hideout, where she would cast her spell—in the middle of the forest, inside a cave that no one knew existed unless you passed a waterfall that was hiding it. Mom could not leave the hou

DRACO.“Do you still want her back?” Iris asked.“Will my answer matter to you?” I asked back.I had kept things from Iris, but I had never lied to her. And looking at those brown eyes that captivated me since I first saw her three years ago, it was getting harder to keep things from her. Her eyes watered and her lips began to quiver. “I like you, Draco. I really like you…”“Damn it!” I closed my eyes for a split second before I pulled her into my arms. “I told you not to fall in love with me!”In all of this, once I got what I wanted, I knew Iris would be at the losing end. “This is not good…” I muttered against her hair. “You can’t fall in love with me. It’s for the best, Iris.”She didn’t say anything, but I felt her hands on my chest as she gently pushed me away. “Iris,” I called her once she turned her back on me. “It’s okay. I get it… I’m not Felicity. If you see her, she’s so beautiful and regal, while I… I look okay because of these expensive clothes you’ve given me. But o

Chapter 90

DRACO.“If I want a child, it is only possible with my fated mate…” I mumbled just enough for her to hear.Iris immediately stood up and walked past me, leaving me still crouched on the floor.“Oh, Goddess!” She gasped, hands on her chest as her tears fell. “Only to your fated mate…”I nodded. “That’s why I don’t want to reject her. Rejecting her means losing my chance to have a child. I know it must be a one-in-a-million chance, but I’m willing to take the risk. I know she’s married to someone else, but what choice do I have?”I stood up to face her and found her body shaking with her silent cries. “I know this is immoral, but I don’t care, Iris. I want a son. Fuck, even a daughter, I will take it.”I walked to her and cupped her cheeks again, wiping her tears. “That’s why you can’t fall in love with me. This plan I have will only hurt you.”“She’s pregnant… Is it yours?”“No…” I shook my head.“If the seer is telling the truth, that Felicity can give you a child, why didn’t she get p
