Mila’s POV “Oh shit!” My mind, it had betrayed me again. I needed to be at the university athletics department by 7, oh no! “I'm sorry guys. I've got to go…”“But you're not done with the food yet!” Gary my roomie cried.I didn't even listen to him, I just grabbed my coat and ran off like a mad dog let loose from the reins of its owner. My legs flew on the empty roads, my heart pounding like a fucking party band, my head screaming with aches.“Thank God. Just in time.” I took a deep breath, shook my smelly coat and walked in with all amount of composure left in my tired ass.I really hope I get this job.Ever since Dad died when I was twelve, I had to work my ass out just to fend for the family. Now Mom's sick, her cancer’s growing worse every day and it's also drowning my pocket. As it stands, this job, it's God sent. It's the only way out of the three shitty jobs I'm doing that isn't even able to pay my bills. Three times my pay… No, I can't miss it.“Ms. Mila right?” The secret

Mila POV That boy called Kai, he's the most annoying kid I've ever met in my whole annoying life.Like, he wouldn't even allow me to take his photo. What did I even do wrong for him to lash out at me like that? Why is he acting this way? Why is he being so difficult.Just because of his annoying attitude, I've not been able to finish up with the collage for the school's magazine and I wonder what I'll tell Carlton today.Well, my life depends on this job and I wouldn't let anyone come in between it. Whatever it takes me to get that photo, I'll do it.When I got to school, I avoided Carlton and went straight to Kai. However, it seemed like today I was late or something. They had already finished with practice, but we're injured, I mean all of them. Broken legs, ankles, hands…What happened?“Good morning.”“What's the matter?” He growled, his leg oozing with blood, but he showed less fright, unlike the uninjured me that was scared of the blood and intensity of the injury.“You should

Mila's POV I've been restless ever since that day. His touch haunted me everyday we met, we couldn't even look at each other. The others were noticing our weird behaviors, they just didn't have the courage to ask, and thank God they didn't, because honestly, I wouldn't have known what to answer to them.I've been replaying that moment in my head for days, pausing and playing each moment like a movie in my head, searching for the minute I did something wrong. Why is he doing this to me?I can't forget the fact that he looked at me like I was everything he ever wanted in his life.It keeps torturing me. However, yesterday, he had slipped a letter in my bag, asking me to meet with him after practice today.I wore my best perfume, he'll call it cheap, I know, but that's what I could afford. Gary noticed the unusual dressing today but I shut him up the moment he dared ask.I'm more than hopeful that maybe, we'll figure this madness between us today. Maybe, this could be the beginning of a

Mila's POV*The building is dead quiet.I should have gone home hours ago, but I needed to finish editing these photos for tomorrow's deadline. The athletic building after 10 PM is creepy as hell, but it's the only time I can use the computer lab without interruption."Come on, stupid thing," I mutter at the ancient computer as it takes forever to load the next photo. My eyes are burning from staring at the screen, but I'm almost done. Just five more photos to edit and I can finally get out of here. That's when I hear it.A sound coming from down the hallway. Like voices, but... muffled somehow.I pause, listening. The building should be empty. Security locks it down at 9 PM, but Coach Carlton gave me a key since I sometimes work late.Maybe it's just the janitor? But it's way too late for that. The sounds get louder. Definitely voices. Multiple people talking. My first thought is that some students broke in to party or something. Great. If security finds them, they'll probably take a

Mila's POV*We've been driving for hours and I still can't wrap my head around any of this.Werewolves. Actual werewolves. The boys I've been working with, taking photos of, watching practice every day... they're not human. And Kai... Kai is supposed to be my mate. Whatever that means."You okay?" Ethan asks, glancing at me from the driver's seat.I realize I've been staring out the window in silence for the past twenty minutes."I'm processing," I say quietly. He nods like he understands. That's the thing about Ethan – he doesn't push. He just lets me be.We pull off the main road onto a dirt path that winds through thick trees. The deeper we go, the more isolated it becomes."Where are we going?""There's a cabin about ten miles up. My uncle built it years ago for hunting trips. It's off the grid, no cell service, no way to track us.""How do you know they won't find us?""They might eventually. But it'll buy us time to figure out what to do next."Time to figure out what to do next
