Chapter 2: The Alpha’s Dilemma

Kai’s POV 

“Jesus Christ!!!”

Amber can you please stop this madness!

The moment that lady, Mila or something walked into the rink, I lost it. Like completely.

Amber wouldn't stop stirring. He just went crazy. 

All he screamed in my ears was, ‘mate!’

He just wouldn't drop it, even when he knows the rules.

Humans cannot know about werewolves, and mating with anyone of them is forbidden.

Oh God! Why me?

The more she stands there, the more I lose my damn composure.

Amber has the habit of disgracing me in public, most especially when he wants something I don't want to give him. I'm cooked for today.

I couldn't continue playing, I told coach Carlton I was having a stomach upset and as if it wasn't enough, we crossed paths again.

Her dazzling eyes made of gold glowing in the beaming sunlight locked on my eyes, her strong scent, made of magnet held me to the spot. I couldn't move, and I couldn't help but stare, Amber smiled sheepishly inside me.

It's just so annoying. Why should I be given a wrong mate? Just why?

The fact that I'm the son of the Alpha and the next Alpha in line makes the whole thing even more difficult.

I remember Dad had categorically stated that sharing werewolf business with humans means endangering the pack and that is equal to exile or death.

Even though I'm his son, he wouldn't hesitate to uphold the law, I'm very sure of that.

Now what am I supposed in this case?

Moon Goddess? Why did you do this to me?

I just sat there rambling in my thoughts, Amber endlessly reacting to her. 

Gosh!!!

I covered my head in shame.

My legs were trembling, it felt like I needed to take a piss. Cold sensations ran through my skin. It just feels like my own body has failed me. I can't control, it obeyed Amber now. Damn it!

Ever since I was a child, I've been trained to take over as Alpha. That's my life's work, beneath all these cover as hockey captain and the rest.

No, I can't forfeit it all for a silly, poor human girl that would just ditch me the moment I tell her my real identity.

I tried to be deliberately cruel to her, abusing her at the slightest opportunity I get, just to scare her away, but it's not working. She's just a chill girl and a perfect fit for me.

Every bad word I tell her turns around and stabs me in the chest. Like, I'm just tired.

Amber wouldn't hesitate to nudge it's head anytime I speak rash to her, just like now.

She was coming close to me with her camera. What does she want this time?

Amber, please I beg you, just give me a minute?

Oh God, she should just avoid me already!

“Please can I get a photo. I need it for the collage for the school's magazine,” she politely requested.

She didn't need to explain what she needed it for, I knew, I just don't think I'll be able to stand anywhere close to her without Amber revealing his golden eyes and claws.

I stood up, not sure of what I was doing, posing just like she asked me. 

My heart pounded inside my chest already, my legs trembling violently, I needed to take a piss. My bladder suddenly filled up overnight. 

What the?

“Get it over with already,” I cried, a tear nearly escaped my eyes.

“I'm sorry, let me just adjust the angles.” She begged, her sweet voice captured my soul.

I don't think I can hold it any longer. Fuck!!!!

“Alright. Let's go. Smile…”

The shooter sound clicked and thank God, it was over finally.

I was about to run off to the restroom and scream my fucking head out when she called me back.

“Forgive me, my film is full. Just give me a minute to change it with another one. I'm sorry for taking your time,” her hands softly held my skin, her glowing eyes troubling my shattered heart.

The more she held on to me, the more Amber misbehaved and the more my grip on the piss reduced. 

I just yanked her hands off me and ran off.

“Hey… I'm not done yet!”

“Fuck you!!!”

My voice was loud enough for everyone to hear. I saw the grin on coach's face, he wasn't happy with the way we all have been treating her ever since she arrived, me in particular.

The others just muttered inaudible stuffs, I know they must be wondering what's up with me. 

They just went ahead and gave silly poses and laughed together with her.

I banged the door to the restroom and released the hot liquid that had been boiling ever since, all my muscles relaxed finally, Amber wasn't happy about this by the way.

I took a deep breath and opened the door, only to find Ethan, my younger brother and beta leaning by the corner with a frown.

“What's wrong with you, man?”

“Nothing!” I slammed. “Aren't you supposed to be on the field now?”

I tried to dodge the question and grabbed a towel.

“You know what I'm talking about. Let me just warn you, you're walking your path to doom…”

That was all he said and left.

What does he think he is? How dare him tell me what to do?

“Ethan! Ethan!!!”

He's lucky he didn't come back, I would have beaten the living hell off him.

I went back outside and saw Ethan and Mila chatting while she took his photograph.

He winked at me from his corner and took a silly pose, just to get me angry.

I'll kill him already.

For sure.

However, I noticed the way his scent changed while he was around her. As if they were connected.

If he dares go too close to her, I swear I'll jump from here and deal with him.

Bloody hell!

Just look at the way he's smiling at her.

I can't stay here and watch this little drama anymore, before I do something crazy.

I slammed the door behind me and crashed my folded wrist into the locker room wall hard.

It left a mark on the hard metal, one that will always remind me of today.

Jeez!
