I stared at the message that flashed across my phone screen again—a hidden number. “Alex…” I murmured beneath him, my breath still unsteady from what we’d just done. Instead of answering, he leaned down and kissed me deeply, passionately. A kiss meant to silence me, stop me from talking. “Shhh,” he whispered, his lips brushing mine. From the corner of my eye, my whole body was set ablaze—what did I just see? A few minutes later, we lay tangled near the sofa that had been used for more than just sitting. His breath was fast, his whole body dripping with sweat. Then he reached for my heels, placing them beside me using his thumb to brush my lip—he was done.
