He stood still for a while, his eyes dark and unreadable. The space between us felt thick with silence, like the air itself was holding its breath. “Liora…” His voice was deep, low, rough around the edges. I had heard him say my name countless times, but tonight… it sounded different, it sounded softer and broken. I took a small step closer, my heart thudding in my chest. “Don’t you want to? Don't you want me anymore?” He closed his eyes for a moment, jaw tightening. “Goddess, you don’t know how much I want you Liora.” His voice cracked faintly. “But… you need to want me too. You need to want me the way I want you. You need to want only me.” He looked at me then, eyes burning. “I need to know you aren’t still thinking about... him.” Elliot. The name he didn’t say still cut through the room like a cold blade. I reached for him, hesitant at first, and then laid my hand against his side. The warmth of him, the rise and fall of his chest beneath my palm, made my breath catch. I d

I woke to the soft rustle of curtains, sunlight spilling gently through silken drapes. The air in the room smelled faintly of jasmine and linen. For a moment, I forgot where I was, until I felt the warmth of Xavier’s arm around my waist, his hand resting loosely on my hip, steady and protective. His breathing was slow, peaceful, each exhale brushing against my shoulder. The weight of his presence was comforting, solid, grounding, like nothing bad could reach me here. I dared to glance back at him, his face was half-buried in the pillow, the morning light casting gold across his skin.He stirred, his lashes flickering before his voice broke the silence, deep, husky from sleep. “You’re awake,” he murmured.I smiled faintly. “I didn’t want to move.”He gave a soft laugh, a low sound that made my chest flutter. “You can move all you want. You don’t need my permission for that.”“You were holding me,” I whispered.“Maybe I didn’t want to let go.”That made me blush. I turned away, pretend

When I heard his voice, I almost collapsed in relief. I couldn’t even speak, I just listened to the sound of him breathing. He was alive. “Liora,” he said softly. “It’s me.” “Xavier... where are you? Are you alright? What happened?” He paused. I could hear the hum of an engine behind him. “I’m fine. They’re fine too. Sienna and Travis are with me now. Apparently Elliot declared you wanted, they were attacked, and they’ve been hiding all this time while Elliot’s men were after them, but I was able to get them out. I took them somewhere safe to make sure we weren’t followed. There was no cell reception, so I couldn’t reach you. But we’ll be home by tomorrow.” Tears stung my eyes as I sank to the floor. “Thank the Moon Goddess,” I whispered. “Thank you.” He exhaled softly, and I could almost hear the smile in his voice. “We’re all fine. Get some rest. I’ll see you soon.” But I didn’t sleep. I sat by the window until dawn, staring down the empty road as if waiting would make hi

His lips froze against mine for a split second, shock, confusion, and then he kissed me back like he had been waiting his whole life for that moment. His hand rose to cup my cheek, firm and warm, pulling me closer. I felt his heartbeat through his chest, steady and strong, beating for me.Xavier deepened the kiss, his arm curling around my waist, holding me against him like he was afraid I would disappear if he let go. My fingers slid into his hair, and he made a low sound in his throat that sent a shiver down my spine. The door to the balcony was still open. The night air wrapped around us, cool against my heated skin. Every thought, Elliot, Ariana, the war outside, vanished. There was only this. Only him.He pulled back just enough to look at me, his forehead resting against mine, his breath uneven.“Liora…” he whispered, like my name was something dangerous.I wanted him.So I kissed him again. This time, he didn’t hesitate at all. He kissed me fiercely, like he had been starving a

After Xavier left, the room felt too quiet. The sheets still carried his warmth, and his scent lingered, that mix of cedar and storm that always made me feel safe. I wrapped his pillow in my arms and stared at the tray of breakfast he’d left for me, untouched more from distraction than appetite. I was happy. Truly happy. But happiness had always been a fragile thing for me, a glass bubble I was afraid to hold too tightly in case it shattered. What happens now? What if his pack don’t approve of me? What if I’m just a temporary comfort until his world demands someone better? The thoughts pressed against my chest, squeezing the air from my lungs. Before they could drown me completely, I grabbed my phone and called Sienna. She answered on the first ring. “Liora! I was just thinking about you.” “I’m sorry,” I said quickly. “I should have checked on you after we separated last night. But… Xavier and I…” Heat rushed to my cheeks even though she couldn’t see me. “We… got toge
