Alpha's Tension のすべてのチャプター: チャプター 71 - チャプター 80

DaliahThe sound of the alarm clock rings in my ears, and my hand flies to the edge of the bed to silence it. My hand comes down on the nightstand a few times before I lift my head to look for the clock. The sound ceases, and I turn my head to see Ben rolling back towards me, having shut it off on his side. "What? I didn't want to have to buy another one." His deep grumble that radiates from his chest does something to me as I watch his hands slide over his tired face. I just want to stay here forever, in this moment. When the morning light filters through from the large window on the far side of the room, it illuminates his olive skin and makes his brown eyes an ocean of dark chocolate. "You okay?" His voice is still rough as he asks it, and I can't help but slide closer to him with a smile playing on my lips. My left hand trails down his bicep as he studies my face, and I study his lips. "How long do we have?" I ask, stealing a peck on his lips. He returns my smile with a devilis

DaliahWhen we pull into the driveway to the house, Kyle is waiting at the front door for Ben, like he usually does. "What are you going to do?" I ask quietly, hoping Kyle isn't listening in on us. When I look over at Ben, his nose is flared in anger, and he shoves the door to the car open swiftly. I try to rush out with him, but his door is slamming closed before I can even get out of my seat. His feet stomp quickly towards Kyle, who raises his hands in surrender as Ben wraps his hands around his throat. "What the fuck, man? I thought you were my friend?" Ben is screaming in his face, and I realize he is not mad about a rat in the pack. He is upset that his best friend betrayed him. "I. Don't know. What," Kyle tries to speak through his throat being closed off, and I make it to Ben's side, laying my hand on his arm. "Bullshit, you're the rat! Don't fucking lie to me," Ben shouts at him, but Kyle's eyes widen in surprise at the accusation. "You, think. I?" His voice is strained

DaliahAfter Ben had left the table, I stayed quiet throughout the meal. I couldn't wrap my head around Carter being the rat. He is my best friend, how could it be him? The timelines don't add up, and I somehow have convinced myself that it's not what it looks like. When I say my goodbyes to Mrs. Lanzetta, she hugs me a little tighter than usual. Instead of the tensing I have been reacting with lately, I let myself melt in her motherly embrace. Carter walks back to the house with me in silence, giving me a short hug and farewell before I head to the bedroom. My legs feel as though they are filled with cement while I walk, and each step feels like a demon has made it his personal chore to pull me down.Just before my hand lands on the door handle, I hear Ben's voice shouting from down the hallway. The proximity between the bedroom and his office makes it obvious where the sound is coming from, and the speed in my feet quickly returns as I take off in a sprint towards him. Shoving th

DaliahMy feet his the stone beneath me heavily as I take each step behind Ben. I didn't want to come down to the dungeons with him, but I didn't want to turn a blind eye to the situation. The air that infiltrates my nose has my stomach turning, letting the faint scent of blood sting my senses. Ben glances over his shoulder at me with concern, but I keep my eyes on the stairs until we reach the last one. "Well, are we done here?" The man inside the cell says, straightening the cuffs of his suit. His blond, nearly white hair is slicked back, and his dead blue eyes peer at me through the iron bars. He looks young, but he is nearly as old as New York itself. Something about him rings with familiarity in my mind, but I can't place his face. Ben scoffs at the vampire behind the bars, causing him to roll his eyes. "I did what you asked, you said you'd let him go," Denise whines, causing both Ben and me to scrunch our noses at the high-pitched complaint. I haven't dealt with vampires, e

Ben Her eyes are vacant when I pull the chair out for her to sit in. It took a little over an hour for Jessie, our pack witch, to come and bring the barrier spell down. I didn't like the idea of two vampires inside of our pack house, but Malcome seems to be only interested in doing business.Despite this, I have Jessie and Kyle both inside my office with Daliah, Denise, and Malcome. Jessie and Kyle are flanking both sides of the door, Daliah is at my side, and the dead ones are directly in front of us. Denise hasn't said anything since being grabbed by Daliah, and her neck is still mending itself, but her glare is plastered on Daliah. She has her laptop pulled out and opened in front of her, completely unconcerned with the dead woman's wrath in front of her. She types away, clicking through documents at a speed that makes it difficult to even watch her screen as she does it.
