Ethan's pov “No mum, I have to go to work, just send my regards to your friend.”She shook her head again “Ethan, honey. Have I ever bugged you so much for something?.”She was right. In fact, her being so intent on me going to see her friend was suspicious.I had barely made it out of my bedroom door this morning, before she cornered me. Going on and on about a friend she hadn't seen in years and how she wanted me to come with her.“Please, with two cherries on top”She smiled, clasping her hands together.I let out a deep sigh.I could do this for her, Just this once. Especially since my dad was out of town, on some old class reunion.“Fine.” I muttered.“But I don't want to stay so long, I have to get to work or Connor will put my head on a stick”“Oh yes that's perfect, thank you honey. Let me go put on my jacket”She practically sprinted towards the coat rack, grabbing her coat and walking back to me.“Let's go.”I nodded, holding her small frame and escorting her out the door.

Ethan's pov I tried to swallow the bulge in my throat as I stared idly at the man I once thought would be my forever.“I already told her I was going to turn myself in, but I didn't —i haven't had the chance to update her on the current situation.”Of course. He was fucking keeping things from people again.“So, in simple terms. You are lying again.”His face shifted into one of shock, then a slow sadness washed over his features.“I'm not lying, Ethan I promise. I just haven't had the chance.”“Why not.” I bark out a whole lot harsher than I felt inside.“Because, if you haven't noticed I'm being held captive right now with only 3 minutes of phone time per day.” He let out his voice laced with sarcasm.I felt so much rage inside of me, like there was an unseen battle happening right here in this room.My body buzzed with shockwaves every single time his stormy eyes met mine. A reaction I was hoping would die along with whatever possibility we could have.If he had only three minutes

Ethan's pov“I need you to breathe honey, can you breathe for me?.”My mum echoed as she rubbed small circles on my back, just like she did when I was a lot younger. But nothing was working, my thoughts were swarming left and right, a war between my brain and my heart.“I'm really sorry, I shouldn't have brought you here. I didn't know you would react like this.” Her voice still rang in my head, the calm texture doing nothing to soothe fire burning in my bones.“I want to go home.” I rubbed small circles on my forehead where the migraine had Intensified as my mum started the ignition.I was healing.I was fine. But seeing him again, made the walls I had built around myself feel like mush. He was too much, that was the thing about him whether In jail or not when you experience Aaron you experience him on an intense level. It felt like I was shattering, like everything was collapsing on me. My mind wandered to the way he looked draped on the small chair, His tone laced with so much emot

Ethan's pov “He turned himself in.”Her face molded into one of confusion before fading back to normal.“Yes, he told me he would. I just didn't expect him to actually go on with it.”She said, each word coming out more tense than the last.“I know, I was surprised to. But he did and he is no doubt going to be there for a very long time.”She started packing the toys into a plastic basket.“Well, I lost him for this long, what's a few extra years ?.”“I'm sorry.”“For what, you didn't kill somebody.” Her voice was more stern now, like she had already decided how to feel on the matter. Her sin has killed somebody, and not just anybody his own stepfather, a man she was probably inlove with at the time.“I know, but I'm just sorry. For everything, for not telling you as soon as I found him.”“Apologies won't fix anything Ethan , I'm not angry with you. But there is no point apologizing. ““I just. How does one move on from something like this.” My mum who had been silent all through, g

Cheryl's pov My fingers trembled like my thoughts were going to leak through them, I shifted my weight from one foot to another.Christ.What was I going to do now?How did he expect me to convince the entire board that any of this was normal ? Like this was part of some master plan to rebrand?I should have known something was wrong. I should have understood whatever hidden lines were being drawn, but I didn't catch up fast enough. And now warner industries was most likely going to experience the biggest crash in history.I needed coffee. I had practically become a caffeine addict in Aaron's absence and now that I had to face the board members I most definitely could not do without it.I cleaned my sweaty palms on my navy blue peplon dress as I tried to maintain some kind of level of calm and composure before stepping out of my office.“Madam Cheryl?”I turned abruptly,my mind already brimming with all the possible questions the caller wanted to ask. It was ruby from the marketing de
