"Go get some rest." Anna said to Sierra because she didn't want her wasting energy on anything unimportant. "I'll handle this."Sierra nodded and left. She knew Nathan had come to see her mother. He was worried that once Anna found out what had happened tonight, she would be upset with him.Sierra did not want to get too involved in the elders' affairs. She would be busy for a while after tonight. The first project was near completion and needed final approval and quality assurance. With Charlie's personality, he most likely wouldn't let it happen smoothly. With that thought in mind, her mood grew a little heavy. What happened afterward was exactly what she had expected. Getting the signatures was anything but simple. But the funds wouldn't be transferred to the company's account until the project was signed off and approved, and her test wouldn't be considered complete.Robin told John about it and asked for his opinion. "Should I send someone to talk to those people?"This wa

Anna and Nathan were speechless too when they heard Sierra's words. Nathan caught the disdain in Anna's eyes, and his expression changed a little. "I didn't think she'd come upstairs that fast.""How did the discussion about the shares go?" Anna changed the subject. She had no interest in discussing anything else with him."Except for Cedric's side, everyone else came to persuade me to give the shares to Sierra," Nathan said honestly. "After John puts a little pressure on them, it should be settled."Anna's eyes darkened. No one could tell what she was thinking.Nathan seized the opportunity and asked, "Since you're willing to let Sierra accept my shares, does that mean you...""I'm recycling," Anna said. She had never forgiven him, and every word was the truth. "Cedric and his people were going to target her anyway. We might as well face them head-on."Nathan asked, "You really don't have the slightest feeling left for me?""No," Anna said."Not even a little?" Nathan asked.

What Nathan did in the past was wrong, but he had not gone to Anna right away after realizing it.From Sierra's perspective, her biological father was weak. So weak that he had never once gone to find Anna in more than twenty years, let alone apologize."Sierra," Nathan called out to her.Sierra looked up at him.Nathan seemed to have realized something. "Was your mother unhappy back then?""No one can still be happy after being betrayed and hurt." Sierra did not answer directly, but the hint was clear enough. "A physical wound needs time to heal, let alone an emotional one."Nathan fell silent.Sierra said goodbye after that. "Be careful on your way back. I'm going back inside now.""I didn't go looking for her because I didn't know how to face her." Nathan spoke before she could leave. "Everyone told me she was doing well. They told me not to disturb her peaceful life."Sierra pressed her lips. She asked him directly, "Including Mom?"Natha's eyes opened wide.No.That n

Sierra's heart tightened when she heard Cyrus fell. Cyrus comforted her. "Don't worry. I'm fine.""In the future, walk slower when you're out and about." Sierra still said it after thinking it over. "If you feel unwell, see a doctor right away.""Fine, fine. I will." Cyrus was thrilled that Sierra cared at all. "I'll listen to you."Sierra helped him into the living room. John was next to her the whole time.Only after getting Cyrus some tea and snacks did Sierra speak to John. "Tommy's upstairs getting something. He'll be down soon to hang the lights and decorations up with Marcus."John nodded. "Sure."Seeing that he still had not left, there was a hint of suspicion in Sierra's eyes."What about you?" John asked."What?" Sierra did not react right away."What are you doing later?" John looked around and asked calmly when he saw no other house staff around, "Is there anything you need me to do?"Sierra really wanted to say no.If he had not come with Cyrus, she would have

"That's because she pitied me and wanted to test John's skills in private." Nathan found himself an excuse. He was never going to admit to Cyrus that he couldn't cook.Cyrus nodded. "It's fine to dupe an old man like me. But if you dupe yourself too, that's truly pitiful."Nathan was not sure what to say. He really did not understand what John was made of. He had a successful career, handsome looks, and even knew how to cook.Did he really have that much free time when he was growing up?Anna was curious too. After John prepared two dishes in an orderly fashion, with only the final steaming step left, she asked, "When did you learn to cook?""Around sixteen or seventeen," John answered.Anna was a little surprised.John then explained, "I studied abroad and wasn't used to the food there, so I learned to cook for myself."That answer only puzzled Anna more. With the Henderson family's wealth and influence, hiring him a chef who could make food from home should have been easy. Wh
