KYRA "Why would you do that?" I asked, running after him. "Why would you pay for my mother's burial rites, now I'll have to be indebted to you. I don't want to owe you anything.""You know what to do then, if you don't want to be indebted to me. We could always take it up a notch. This time, it doesn't have to be under the table, maybe a roof top? Or somewhere more daring. I'm always up for a new experience with you.""If that's what it'll take," I said stiffly, "say the time and when, I'll meet you there."He paused to stare at me. "Fine, if you are so hell bent on paying me back, be my date to the event and I'll consider your debt paid."I narrowed my eyes, struggling to match up his now long strides, "What event? That event?""Yes," he smirked, "that event.""The one you are supposed to go to with Eve?""Exactly," he confirmed."But... Your words matter to you a lot. Wouldn't that be you going back on your word?""Which is exactly why I won't be the one to tell her. It's all on y

KYRA Like every other days, we started the training early. This time, a new class was introduced to start immediately after the competition. Dancing. I don't understand how dancing is supposed to help us as Lunas in training. The activity is really unnecessary. Today however, we were only allowed to participate in one lesson.Gardening. Most of my plants died despite the effort and time I poured into it, however, that was not the surprising thing. What surprised me more was Nicole catering to Susan's plants which sprouted beautifully.Either she's a plant person or there's more beneath the cold exterior she portrays. After the gardening class, Eve mandated another meeting before we began the preparation of the event. This time, she didn't lock the door and instead kept a wary eyes on Nicole and I."This event has to be perfect, I don't care if you are breaking a limb, but if you embarrass me in front of my parents, you'd wish for an easier death."Again with the threats. Does she

ASTRID ***Life before Zyran ***"Run!!!" The voice thundered in my head, "Run away, Astrid! Don't come back. "My body pumped with adrenaline, my heart thudding fast against my ribcage as I ran towards the voice instead. They've found me. Again. What if I don't get there in time? What if I'm too late?Oh, goddess, please. Please, don't let him be hurt.I gritted my teeth as I ran faster, my lungs burning with lack of air.How did they manage to find me? I did everything to prevent this from happening. My scent is still masked, and my hair and eye color are changed. Even my normally light skin is almost brown. I altered my voice, appearance, and name, yet those damned people found me. Please be fine, dad, please.Tears clouded my vision.I reached the house and found him outside in his own pool of blood. His eyes are vacant and lifeless.A guttural scream escaped my throat as I stared at my husband's dead body. My heart shattered and broke into a million pieces. The tears didn't s

ASTRID *** Life With Zyran ****"One... one hundred and fifty million?" The Alpha stuttered. "Are you sure? She's not worth more than five thousand. If you want her for free, in fact, I'd gladly give her to you.""One fifty." His voice had a tone of finality. Panic surged through me as I watched his lips curl up in a twisted smile. I've only ever seen Zyran Eryx in pictures, and that didn't do justice to his looks or the cold aura oozing from him. No one knows his origin. He was often used to tell a horror story and scare the children in my pack.Seeing him here, now watching me like he had all the time in the world, could only mean one thing. He knows exactly who I am, but why was he here?"Please," I turned to the Alpha, begging shamelessly, "You can't sell me to him, you don't know what he is capable of."The Alpha chuckled, his eyes flicking to Zyran, "Isn't that the point of this?"I shook my head vehemently, "You want me dead? Fine. I'd rather die by your hands than go with

KYRA Because of the event, the training lessons for today was cancelled to allow the winning group prepare for the evening.Eve had left the palace this morning, Nicole confirmed to it.I stood in front of a mirror, holding two dresses in front of me, I couldn't pick which was the nicest."Nicole?" I called, turning to her, "which should I go with?""For the party with the king?" She asked incredulously, "None of it! Don't make me disappointed after all the effort we put to make this work."I frowned, turning to the mirror again. Both were short gowns, one was straight and the other was flayed.Nicole stood and went to her closet, bringing out a dress of her collection of new dresses."This would be better," she murmured, throwing it to me, " And don't bother with cleaning and returning it back to me. Consider it a gift."Ni....""Keep your thank you and get dressed, you have less than two hours."I rolled my eyes, "I just need twenty to get ready."Nicole gasped, staring at me with
