It took a while to shake off the shame and hurt that swallowed me. I crouched over in a corner crying my eyes out. A nurse came in and checked my vitals, gave me some medication, disconnected some things, asked a few questions, then shone more light into my eyes like it wasn’t enough. She also unwrapped my stomach to change the gauze and I saw the stitching on my lower stomach.“Do you feel pain here?” She ran her hand around the stitches and I flinched at her touch“Yes” I winced“You would feel better in no time” she handed me a bottle of water“Can I go now?” I asked not caring about the water anymore, I needed to see with my eyes that the baby was okay “I would get you a wheelchair” she grabbed her tray and walked out I felt weak and tired, as if I were awakened from a deep sleep.
