Later that night, after everything that had happened, I took my shower and sat on my couch with a warm cup of coffee. My body was tired and my mind wouldn’t stop drifting back to how Chloe turned out to be the manager I’m supposed to work with. Every time I closed my eyes, it was the same images, Chloe’s face, her hand in Ethan’s, and Anabel watching like I meant nothing to her anymore.I turned on my TV hoping it would get me distracted from all the crazy thoughts in my head. I just stared at the screen, still lost in thought. It wasn't working. I exhaled slowly, closing my eyes while resting my head on the couch. Just as I was about to drift into another restless thought, there was a knock on the door. I frowned slightly. Who could be knocking by this time? I sat up, hesitating for a second before getting up from the couch and walking toward the door. Another knock followed. I opened it, and it was Ethan. For a second, I just stood there, staring at him. Of all the things I expecte

The next morning, I stood in front of my mirror, adjusting my outfit. I told myself I already looked perfect. I grabbed my car keys and drove to Maya’s place. I knocked on the door twice before Maya opened it and then paused. She looked surprised."Okay…" she said slowly. "So, is this for Ethan or for me?" She moved aside for me to walk in."Oh please…" I rolled my eyes as I walked in. "Don’t flatter yourself. This is for my man."She laughed. "Ohh… so he’s your man again?""Never stopped being," I winked as I sat down."Wow," Maya raised her brows and also sat beside me.I dropped my bag on the couch and adjusted my dress."I just came to discuss something quickly and I will be out of your hair soon.""Hmm…okay, what’s that?" she said trying to be serious."The meeting with Chloe…" I paused. "Can you set it to be at her agency?"Maya blinked. "Are you sure about that, Lin?""Yes, I am.""That's what you want?" she asked again to be sure I knew what I was saying."Yes," I repeated. "A

Chapter 35.I was up before my alarm. I lay there for a moment, staring at the ceiling, running through everything in my head. The samples and the presentation were ready. Maya and I had gone over the plan twice already. There was nothing left to prepare other than to show up and let them know what StylebyLin really is.I got dressed slowly and by the time I was done, my nerves were already active, and so was my confidence. I stood in front of my mirror and took one long look. Today wasn’t the day to look unsure, this was real business. Okay! I thought. Let's go and show them who this is. When I got to the studio, Maya was already waiting outside. She looked sharp and put together, holding two cups of coffee like she knew exactly what I needed. The moment I stepped out, she looked me over once and smiled."Okay… there she is."I raised a brow."There is who?"She picked up her bag and handed me a coffee."The woman who is about to secure her future.""Please," I muttered, trying not

I was at the studio before anyone else the next morning. The lights were still off when I arrived. I didn't bother turning them all on. Just the one in my office. I dropped my bag on my desk and sat down slowly, folded my hands in front of me, and just sat in the silence for a while. No sewing machines humming, no voices from the fitting room, and no music playing from somebody’s speaker like usual. And honestly, I preferred it that way. I needed that peace before I started work. Last night with Ethan had helped a little even though the feeling was still there. I leaned back in my chair and closed my eyes briefly. I kept asking myself the same questions. How did we get here? How did two people who once felt inseparable suddenly become strangers forcing politeness? The office door opened softly. I looked up and saw Maya standing there with coffee in one hand and her bag in the other. She saw me sitting there in the half-light and stopped. Her brows lifted immediately. "Wow…You're here

I kept looking at Ethan after asking the question. For a second, he didn’t answer immediately. He leaned back slightly against the couch like he was thinking carefully about how to explain it."It wasn’t terrible," he said eventually. "At least not at first.""Chloe and I dated for about two years," he continued.I didn't say anything. I just held my wine glass and listened."It was good in the beginning," he continued. "We got along well. Our families knew each other. Her mum and my mum have been close friends for years so it wasn't a strange thing."I nodded slowly. That explained a lot actually."But honestly? We just weren’t compatible long-term," he said. I frowned slightly. "What do you mean?"Ethan rubbed the back of his neck slowly."It didn't make sense for either of us anymore and when I relocated, everything changed. Chloe said she couldn’t do long-distance.” He shrugged lightly. "And maybe she was right because we started wanting different things."Something about the way
