HazelI was finally home. After three long years abroad, I was finally home.Would they be proud of me now?Would Mum and Dad look at me the same way they look at her?Would they celebrate with me the same way they celebrate with her?Would they pull me into a warm hug and tell me how much they miss me even though they never called to check up on me as though they were relieved I was out of their lives?Ugh….what am I thinking? What the hell am I allowing myself to think of?They are my parent of course they’ll miss me, of course they’ll fill me with warm hugs and cook me some homemade dish, of course they will celebrate when they find out about my success in Paris.I brushed off the sad thoughts that clouded my mind. The jasmine hit me first, the sweet heavy scent from the front garden was exactly as I remembered.“Ms Hazel?” The old guard at the gate called out to me, awe and excitement flowing through his face and words as he made his way towards me, I surged towards me, pulling hi

CHAPTER 3HAZELNikolai stood there, with two bottles of sauce, hot chili sauce, and extremely hot chili sauce, I guess he was about to ask if I was still into spicy food.Shit….I can’t move. His eyes went from my face, to the thin tank top and shorts I had slid into and now his eyes were directly on the object in my hands. Trembling, my hands accidentally pressed the button and its vibration was the noise in the silence between us.His expression didn’t change, but a muscle in his jaw flickered, his gaze dark and unreadable, held mine for a split second that felt like an eternity and without a word, he legs moved back until he was out of sight and then he slammed the door shut, the sound so careful, so gentle, it sent a level of shivers down my spine. The Dildo finally slipped out of my hands and a mortified groan tore from my throat. I rolled onto my back on the bed, covering my flaming face with my palm.“AH!” I screamed into my palm. My hot cheeks burned my palm, from embarrassmen

CHAPTER 5NIKOLAI“I swear to God, Aevia, this is horror, how on earth am I supposed to like this, how do you even like this?” I grumbled, grabbing the popcorn, holding it close to my chest walking to my couch, in my joggers and white tee, and on my couch, whose face glued to the screen was Hazel, whom I call Aveia because why not?Her hair tied in a messy bun, on the bridge of her nose sat her double lens glasses because she is just as blind as I am. She was in my joggers and my black tee, looking so small in it yet suits her like it was made for her, holding on to the bowl of Pringles she poured out from my kitchen because popcorn makes her choke. She shrugged, “Who doesn’t like horror?” She fired, not sparing a single glance at me because she was completely engrossed in the movie, Scream and if I recall, this is the fourth time we are watching this movie and I still cannot bring myself to like it.“Me!” I fired, sinking into the couch next to her.“What? You’ve never complained tho

Chapter 7 HAZEL I spat the hot coffee out of my mouth and right on the table. Huh? Nikolai’s eyes flickered for a moment, I swear I saw his upper cheeks turn pink. He turned, yanked a tissue, and cleaned up the table like it was nothing. He passed another tissue, “Your lips.” He muffled. Huh? “What about my lips?” I asked, staring at the tissue in his hands. His eyes flickered, his lips curled into a mocking smile, “Would you prefer I wipe the remnants of the spilled coffee off your lips, Aevia?” His voice was low, deep, a drag, a hum against my chest. The way his eyes stayed on my lips and the way his hands glitched, wanting to move towards it. I yanked the tissue away instantly. See… this is why we can’t do it. Pretending to be his wife? I don’t think I can do it. What if I cross the line? What if I get drunk one day and accidentally kiss him? What if one day we are asked to kiss each other? Or actually pretend to love each other…. I’ll pass and that is very bad! Ver

Chapter 9HAZEL “Perfect!” Vira cheered. That little demon! Does she know how hard this is? Why is she doing this to me? Calm down, Hazel, it's for her school retreat… she is doing this because she wants a good retreat. You are doing this for your niece. So wipe away every nasty thought and concentrate. “Are you satisfied?” Nikolai grumbled at his daughter. She placed the pen on her cheeks and nodded, “For now, we can work with that. Gradually, you two will get close and it won’t be an issue. So now here is the list of things we need to accomplish in the next week before the retreat.” she blurted. “One, sitting comfortably with each other. Two, looking at each other with love. Three, holding hands. Four, eating together. Five, Knowing almost everything about each other, six, Your wedding, seven, pet names, and eight, Kissing each other very…..“Kissing!” I barked, then slammed my hands over my mouth as soon as I realized how loud I was. I leaned closer to her, eyes widened, “K
