HELENA REED POV "Have you finally gone insane? What the hell do you mean you’re going to get her pregnant?"Lucien let out a sigh, then leaned in. "Exactly what it means. I know you don’t like how this sounds but that’s exactly what we need to do.""We?" I shook my head, my face pulling in disgust. "I will have no part in this fucking plan of yours." "Stop being so emotional and use your head for once, Helena—""I am using my head!" I grabbed his shirt pulling him close. "And it keeps telling me that you’re a fucking liar and the only reason you suggested this is that you’re desperate to sleep with her.""That’s bullshit"My eyes shook. "Is it?""Yes." Then he slowly pried my hands off his shirt, but didn’t let go. "Deep down, you know I am doing this to secure our future. If I wanted to fuck Kaida, with how much she’d thrown herself at me, I would have."My hands clenched, my body trembling."Yes, Kaida loves me, but who knows what might happen. I need to make sure she never leaves

KAIDA REED POV "You’re here." Helena stepped out to meet me, her smile blindingly white. "You look exhausted. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this tired before."I forced my lips to curve. "Yeah... Things were a bit hectic today." "Well, I’m glad you came." She clasped her hands in front of her, all softness and concern. "I actually wanted to talk to you about something."Of course she did.Lucien hadn’t called me once today. And silence from him only ever meant one thing—he’d been with her. They probably spent the whole day discussing how they were going to proceed, since I already changed the trajectory of their plans. Two fucking psychopaths. "If it’s about Lucien, save it." I brushed past her, the scent of her perfume nauseating. "We’re the ones in a relationship, and not you. We’ll fix our own problems.""Hey, wait." Her fingers wrapped around my wrist. The contact was light, but it felt invasive. I had to physically stop myself from crashing out."What’s with the attitude?"

KAIDA REED POV My head was splitting in two. I blinked, trying to clear my vision, but the headache I felt just made everything look like it was swirling in a vicious circle.Breathe Kaida. This is not the time to panic.I slowly turned on my side, a groan escaping my mouth as the coldness of the sheets penetrated through my fevered skin.Ugh. Why is it so cold in here? Were they trying to freeze me to death? Even my legs were numb from the cold.It was also dark. Or maybe my vision was just that truly fucked.I lay quietly still, waiting patiently for the drumming in my head to stop. I also listened for sounds, just in case I wasn't alone.Where the hell was I?It was glaring that I'd been kidnapped, but I still couldn't wrap my mind around it.First off, Nothing like this happened in my past life. I also couldn't remember offending anyone since I woke up.... So what was going on?Did I somehow alter the trajectory of things by interfering with what should have been? Is that why ev

KAIDA REED POV I choked on the chocolate, then coughed, the warm liquid flying out of my mouth and spraying both of us.He didn't so much as flinch. I opened my mouth to say sorry, then gasped, my eyes widening as he grabbed the side of my stool and jerked it toward him. "Whoa—" My breath hitched as my knees slid between his, the sudden closeness stealing the air from my lungs far more effectively than the chocolate had.Heat rushed to my face.He reached for a napkin with maddening calm, then tilted my chin up with two fingers."Stay still," he murmured. My pulse thudded in my throat. He wiped my mouth slowly, methodically, like it was the most natural thing in the world for him. As if it were something he did every day."Sorry," I muttered as he let go of my chin, my voice thinner than I wanted. "It got on your shirt."His smile made my heart flutter. "It doesn't matter.""It does." I reached for the hem of his shirt. "Take it off. I'll wash it. It's stained."He grabbed my wrist

HELENA REED POV "Are they out of their mind. Where the hell are we supposed to get three hundred million?""From your father," he said, looking up."What?""Where else do you think we can get such an insane amount from?""If we take this to Father, the cops will definitely get involved.""Not if he knows she's going to die the second he does."I paced the room, dragging my hand through my hair.Lucien stood up, his eyes following me. "This isn't something to think too hard about. We need to move now or something might really happen to Kaida. If she dies...you know what happens."Of course, I knew. I would lose everything. Father would give everything he owned to charity without a second thought. It was unfair. Just because I wasn't his legitimate daughter didn't mean I deserved to be treated like some fucking stranger. He had an affair with my mother. He loved her. At least enough to risk his marriage. So why do I get treated like an unworthy stain left behind by a woman he once want
