SAMANTHA POV The tension in the hallway became almost unbearable. I could feel it in the air thick, heavy, pressing down on my chest like a storm about to break. Damon stood in front of me, tall and unmoving, his presence swallowing the space between us. His eyes, those intense eyes, were locked on mine, unreadable yet burning with something dangerously close to anger. Or was it jealousy? I didn’t want to assume. But the way his jaw tightened when he glanced toward Marco earlier told me enough. I crossed my arms instinctively, trying to create distance between us even though he hadn’t taken another step closer. “You shouldn’t be here,” I repeated quietly.
