Author's POV The car hummed steadily beneath them, the sound low and constant, like something meant to soothe. It didn't exactly soothe Sage but she let it be. They were still waiting although she was getting tired of it. Then his phone rang and he seemed to do something on it before continuing on. Sage rested her head against the window, the city had disappeared behind them. The last streetlights blurred into streaks of gold, then vanished entirely, swallowed by long stretches of dark road and open land.
