At Xander Corporation, Dominic shoved open the door to the chairman’s office with a bang. Without even saying hello, he strode straight toward the desk.“Have you lost your mind? Turning yourself in? I swear, that explosion in the suburbs must have blown something loose in your head.”He planted both hands on his hips, clearly furious. The confession Chris had posted online felt less like a legal statement and more like a public act of self-condemnation. The internet was in an uproar.Dominic’s first instinct had been to call him. But then he thought better of it. What was the point of yelling at Chris over the phone when it would be so much more satisfying to yell at him in person? So he had rushed over without stopping.Today, he was going to knock some sense into Chris no matter what. But the man sitting behind the desk was still calmly looking through documents with his head lowered. The whole world outside had been turned upside down, yet here he was, completely unbothered.

Once Dominic finally processed what was going on, he honestly had no idea what to say.He was angry that Chris had not told him in advance about something this big. At the same time, he hated seeing a man like Chris fall from grace. But if Dominic was honest, anger won out.So he turned to one of the police officers and said, “Officer, could you keep him in custody for a few extra days?”The officer froze for a second, clearly not expecting someone like Dominic to make that kind of joke. Then he said with a serious expression, “Mr. Lynch, we handle everything strictly according to the law.”“Take good care of Richie. I’ll be back in a few days.” Chris shot Dominic a cold look.Dominic clicked his tongue.“Fine, fine. I was wrong. I’m sorry. Bad joke. I’ll take good care of him, all right? Don’t worry.”Even without Chris telling him, he would have taken good care of Richie. But Dominic couldn’t stay serious for more than a second. He couldn’t help teasing, “So, counting that

Mr. White brought General back inside. The nanny was cleaning up the mess Richie had left after lunch when the landline in the living room rang.Mr. White walked over and checked the caller ID.It was an unfamiliar number. Judging by the format, it looked like an international call.A thought flashed through his mind, and he quickly picked up.“Winnie? Miss Winter, is that you?” Mr. White’s voice went hoarse with excitement.A very soft voice came through the line.“Mr. White, it’s me. How’s the baby?”Mr. White frowned, his heart aching for her.It must have taken everything she had to leave Richie behind and go for treatment. Calling home to ask about him would only make it harder for her emotionally. She must have seen the news and gotten worried about Richie. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have risked making this call.Mr. White gripped the receiver.“Mr. Lynch just drove off with him. He took Richie out for a ride, so don’t worry.”Then he added, “And as for Mr. Xander, you d

Dominic pulled into the parking lot of the biomedical research institute.Every year, he donated a substantial amount of money to fund its research, and the Lynch family was one of the biggest names in the country’s biotech industry.Between his family’s money and influence, Dominic could come and go from the institute like he owned the place. After parking, he opened the back door and unbuckled Richie from his car seat.“Come on. Uncle Dominic is taking you to meet a beautiful lady.”Richie’s big, round eyes darted around curiously, taking in everything outside. He had no idea what Dominic meant by “beautiful lady,” nor did he particularly care. He simply gnawed on his teether and looked around at everything with wide-eyed fascination.Dominic lifted the little boy into his arms and casually swung the car door shut.As usual, he didn’t bother locking it.It wasn’t long before word reached Lily that Dominic had shown up at the institute with a baby. The lab door opened, and a

Richie waited for a moment, but there was still no sign of Dominic outside the door.Suddenly, he tossed aside his teether and crawled quickly to the other end of the couch. Gripping the armrest with both hands, he tilted his little head and peered toward the doorway.“Nic. Uncle.”He stared for a while, but Dominic still didn’t come back.Richie pushed himself upright with both hands, then plopped back down on the couch. His little mouth turned down, and his chubby face scrunched up in distress.“Wah…”The instant that first whimper escaped him, panic flashed across Lily’s face. She quickly crouched in front of the couch, her brows drawn together.“Don’t cry.”Richie didn’t listen to her at all.He sucked in a deep breath.Richie was seconds away from bursting into tears. Lily panicked and she hadn’t comforted a child since Dominic was little. She had no idea what to do so she did the first thing that came to mind. She reached out and gently poked one chubby cheek with h
