Mia’s povI got to my room and slammed the door, the lock clicked shut and I staggered to the mirror. Slowly, I gathered my thoughts and then it hit me…I actually murdered someone.. someone had actually died by my own hands today. The blood on my face and my hands belonged to someone else! I’m a murderer! My reflection stared right back at me as I looked at the blood stains on my shirt. My chest tightened as I grabbed the edge of the table and let out a gut wrenching scream. I ran my hands across the table, sending everything to the floor with a crashing sound. My mind spiraled as the thought of being a killer haunted me. I heard heavy footsteps approaching but I only looked at the door to make sure it was locked before I ripped my shirt off of my body as quickly as I could. I tossed the gun back into the suitcase and kicked it under the bed. “I’m a murderer..” I muttered continuously as I took all my clothes off and dragged my legs into the bathroom. “I can’t believe I just kille

Mia’s povAt the first morning light, I peeled my eyes open and slowly adjusted to the sunlight. As I sat up and stretched on the bed, I realized I was in an entirely different room. Yesterday’s events came flooding back into my head and I winced at the slight throb in the back of my head. But the highlight of my night was Jonathan’s change of heart towards me. Did he finally see me for who I really was? Was it the alcohol or was it the fact that he probably heard about what I had done? I didn’t realize I was smiling so hard until my cheeks started to hurt. If anyone had told me that Jonathan would see me as anything other than just a trophy wife, I definitely would not have believed it. And yet, beyond my expectations, he held me in his arms until I had no more tears to shed. He held me even without knowing what it was that made me cry. He comforted me until my sobs turned into snores. All the anger and hatred I felt towards him immediately vanished into thin air. Now I looked at

Mia’s povI took a deep breath, stared at my phone screen and exhaled softly. My father’s name stared right back at me as my thumb circled around the dial button. “Is this even worth my time?” I muttered to myself. He only called me once and I knew he was boiling when I didn’t respond. I swallowed hard and pressed the button, waiting patiently for the call to connect. “Sir…” I muttered and waited. Silence followed. Deep drowning silence. “Are you there?” I asked and he cleared his throat. “It has come to my notice, Mia, that you have now grown wings. You believe you now have the upper hand because you no longer stay under my roof, is that true?” His voice scratched my ear. “I don’t know who brought what to your notice, but I have no answers to your questions, sir.” I shot back. I knew my words would only aggravate him and I honestly didn’t care. A soft laugh echoed through the other end of the line and I could even hear him breathing loudly. That wasn’t a friendly laugh… it was

MiaI sat for hours staring at the wall; I don’t know how long I sat there diving into the abyss of nothingness. My mind was numb, my body was numb; it was like my body didn’t belong to me, and I couldn’t even think about anything and didn’t have the energy to.Soon the sun began to set, and I would have continued my staring contest with the wall if there wasn’t a loud knock on the door, forcing my mind back to the present. It was so loud I got deja vu of the moments my father would storm into my room angrily after knocking like the world was his.Well, my world did belong to him.I turned around as the door fell open, and my eyes landed on Lydia’s concerned face.“Is there a problem, ma’am? I’ve been knocking for at least five minutes. I had to let myself in because I was worried something might have happened to you.” She explained, her voice dripping with concern.I took a deep breath before forcing a smirk on my face. “I’m fine, Lydia. I was so tired I fell asleep, and I didn’t hea

Mia I must have fallen asleep while watching the movie because as I opened my eyes to the morning sun, my head pounding like I was having a hangover, I turned to the side to see the laptop still on even though the movie wasn’t playing anymore. It must have finished during the course of my sleep.I quickly turned it off and placed it on the bedside table before sitting up in bed. The throbbing in my head grew with every passing minute, my throat burned so much swallowing became a luxury I couldn’t afford, and my eyes, they were so heavy. I realized staying in bed was the best thing to do today. “He doesn’t need me.” I whispered as memories of the events from the previous day came running back. He doesn’t need me and doesn’t care about me. In fact, staying out of his sight would be doing him a favor, and I was going to do just that. At least until I figure out a way to end this marriage sooner, one that doesn’t involve ending his life. I still can’t bring myself to do that, but one
