Rowan’s POV I sat on the edge of my bed, my hands still shaking from last night. The greenhouse glass had cut my arm in a few places, but Maria fixed it quick. She stood in front of me now, arms crossed, looking serious. “Linking isn’t just grabbing power, Rowan,” she said low. “It’s borrowing essence. You touch the energy of living things and make it yours for a bit. But if you lose control of your feelings, that power will eat you from the inside. Burn you up. You hear me?” I nodded fast. “I hear you. I won’t lose control.” Maria sighed. “You better not, my lady. You’re getting stronger every day, but this shit is dangerous.” I didn’t argue. After the glass shattered around me last night, something inside me woke up hungry. I wanted more. Needed more. If Cassian or anyone else came for me again, I wouldn’t be helpless. Not anymore. Julian and Marcus were gone most of the day. They had the whole town on lockdown, questioning everyone, checking every corner. I heard them shout

Rowan’s POV The full moon hung heavy in the sky like it knew what we were about to do. My heart pounded hard as Julian, Marcus, and I slipped out of the mansion with just four of our best guards. No big group. No noise. We had to keep this quiet. “Ready, baby?” Julian asked, his grey eyes sharp under the moonlight. He grabbed my hand and squeezed it once. I nodded, even though my stomach twisted. “Yeah. Let’s do this.” Marcus walked on my other side, his baby blue eyes calm but alert. “Stick close to us, Rowan. If anything feels off, you pull back. No hero shit tonight.” “I know,” I said softly. My voice sounded small, but I meant it. I was stubborn, not stupid. We moved fast through the dark streets of Moon Haven. The town felt dead tonight. Everyone locked inside because of the killings. Good. Less eyes on us. Before we even reached Cassian’s mansion gates, I stopped. The moon called to me. I closed my eyes and reached for the link. “Hold on,” I whispered. “I’m starting no

Rowan’s POV The mansion felt like a fucking prison now. Cameras everywhere, guards posted at every door, and the air thick with the smell of fear and old books. I sat on the edge of the big bed in our shared room, twisting my fingers together. My heart kept hammering even though nothing was happening right this second. Julian paced like a caged wolf, his eyes were wild and his fists clenched at his sides. Marcus sat at the heavy wooden desk across the room, buried in those dusty ancient books again, flipping pages so fast I thought they might tear. “More bodies turned up near the east gate,” Julian growled, not even looking at us. “Same shit—eyes gone, heart ripped out. This bastard is laughing at us.” Marcus didn’t look up. His eyes stayed locked on the book in his hand. “The markings don’t match any known wolf ritual. I’ve checked three grimoires already. It’s not pure werewolf work.” I swallowed hard. The tension in the room pressed down on my chest like a rock. I was tired o

Rowan’s POV “You sure about this, Rowan?” Marcus asked, his baby blue eyes soft but burning with want. He stepped closer, voice low and calm like always. “Once we mate like this, there’s no going back. Our wolves link for real.” I nodded, swallowing hard. “I’m sure. I want both of you. Not as some tool. As your mate.” My voice came out quiet but steady. Julian’s grey eyes flashed. He looked restless, like he always did when feelings got too deep. “Fuck, Rowan. You know I’m shit at this soft stuff. But I need you. Not your womb. You.” He grabbed my waist and pulled me against his hard chest. His scent—wood and spice—wrapped around me and made my knees weak. Marcus came up behind me, hands sliding up my arms. “We’ve waited long enough. Let’s make it official.” Their hands moved fast. Julian tugged my dress over my head in one rough pull. It dropped to the floor. Cool air hit my skin, but their bodies warmed me right away. Marcus kissed the back of my neck, slow and wet. “You’re

Julian’s POV “Alpha Elias!” I shouted, voice echoing down the empty hall. “You better answer, man!” Nothing. Just silence. The kind that made my skin crawl. Marcus was right behind me, his baby blue eyes narrowed. “He was supposed to meet us at dawn. Said he had important shit about the borders. Now he’s gone?” We pushed into his room. The bed was messed up, sheets tangled like he’d fought someone. A chair was knocked over. And there—on the floor by the window—a dark smear of blood. “Fuck,” I muttered, dropping to one knee. I touched it. Still wet. Fresh. “Marcus, look at this.” My twin crouched beside me. His calm face cracked just a bit. “Blood trail leads out. Let’s follow it.” We tracked it down the corridor, past two dead guards slumped against the wall with their throats slit clean. No struggle sounds. No howls. Nothing. The blood drops got thicker as we hit the stairs leading to the basement. My nose twitched, but I couldn’t catch a single scent. Not Elias’s fear-swe
