Rowan’s POV I sat on the edge of my bed, my hands still shaking from last night. The greenhouse glass had cut my arm in a few places, but Maria fixed it quick. She stood in front of me now, arms crossed, looking serious. “Linking isn’t just grabbing power, Rowan,” she said low. “It’s borrowing essence. You touch the energy of living things and make it yours for a bit. But if you lose control of your feelings, that power will eat you from the inside. Burn you up.
