Yara's POV The stone wall was cold against my back. My eyes fluttered open, then shut again. My legs had long gone numb under me, I had been sitting there since Luna Yulia told me to watch her door I don’t know when I dozed off. Raven's POV The entire palace was alive with motion. I stood on The entire pack house was humming like a beehive. I stood at the edge of the balcony and looked down at the frenzy below. Everyone seemed happy. After all, their Alpha was finally presenting his Luna to his people. I smiled to myself and leaned against the cool marble rail. A breeze lifted the hem of my robe and tousled my curls, which had grown out slightly in the few weeks I'd spent in Night Howler's Pack. I had left undone. Raven's POV Once he was gone, I stood there for a second, staring at the door he walked out through. My hands were still on my chest where the black dahlia necklace sat. Then I turned slowly toward the chest at the foot of the bed, the one Lady Rhea had filled with dresses. I opened it and found the red one she picked for me. I pulled off my robe and slipped into the blood-red dress. I stood in front of the mirror, running my palms down the fabric. It was snug around my waist, but not uncomfortably so. The plunging neckline still made me a little self-conscious, but something about the dress gave me power. Maybe it was the gemstones, or the sleeves that hung like a queen's. The girl in the mirror didn't look like the warrior from Silver Moon. She looked regal. Not delicate, but dangerous in her own way. I didn’t hear the knock. Raven's POV Halfway to my bedchamber, I stopped in my tracks. I could hear voices coming from the linen room. They were low, female and far too familiar. I didn’t want to eavesdrop, but the words floated so clearly through the cracked door of the room that I couldn’t help but hear them. "She doesn't even look like a Luna," one voice scoffed. "Lady Rhea is clearly only tolerating her because of the Alpha." "I know," another whispered. "She dresses like a man and walks like she’s still a warrior. She is not a real Luna at all." I gripped the side of the doorway, fighting the urge to storm in right away. Instead, I waited a few seconds longer. "Alpha Jaxon could have done better." Someone else continued. Raven's POV He yanked my frame into his solid chest, digging his hands into my hair to move my head so that he could deepen the angle of our kiss. I wanted to touch every corner of his mouth with my tongue. He slowly pulled back, leaned down and breathed on my neck gently, stirring my hair. I sighed and opened my mouth again in a silent offer, but he pulled back without another word. I whimpered and he chuckled. "Stop playing with my head, Jax." I grumbled. "I am not doing anything, I merely breathed." He said, smiling. Then he leaned down again, and this time traced kisses down my neck, leaving me a pitiful puddle of desire. "Jax...stop. Yara's POV My arms were sore as I carted Luna Yulia's laundry down the staircase, but I had no choice but to carry it myself. My body ached from the head down. Raven's POV The bed was cold on his side, that was the first thing I noticed. I sat up slowly and looked around, but Jaxon was gone. I sighed and rubbed my eyes. So much for waking up together. I slipped out of bed and found my robe by the edge of the chaise. It took only seconds to pull it on and step into some shoes. My hair was a mess, but I didn’t care. I just needed to find him. Raven's POV I was still fuming when I stepped out of the hallway. If I didn’t find a place to scream, I felt like I was going to explode. Why did Jaxon always have to act like I was made of glass? I was a warrior before I ever became anyone’s mate, but Jaxon didn’t want to hear that part. No. He just wanted me to wear dresses and smile and sit in corners as if I was some kind of trophy wife.
