“Your brother?” I couldn’t believe it.“Yes. None of that matters now. We need to get you out of here before he realizes that you’re gone” Finn grabbed my arms and pulled me along. "Don't let go" his velvet voice wrapped around me like a blanket in the cold night. My heart beat faster than ever. Mostly in fear of what he'd do to me when he pulled me up. But despite that fear, I didn't let go. King Leonidas's arms pulled me up, his face tightened in concentration as he saved my life. When I got the opportunity, I grabbed onto a jagged rock, ignoring the cut through my palm and pushing myself up until my upper body collapsed against the ground. I stared in shock at King Leonidas. My eyes searched his for any hint of sick amusement in his eyes but I found nothing. He was dead serious.“Y-You want to look at my injuries?”“You’re bleeding all over my floor” he snapped and I took a proper look at myself. I hadn’t noticed how deeply I’d cut myself or the other injuries I’d sustained. I’d been focused on my fear. Fear of what he’d do to me but now he is asking to clean my injuries?“I’ll do it myself” I tried to pull away from him but his grip tightened and he huffed at me. King Leonidas swooped me off the ground and carried me to his bed. I sat by the window overlooking the gardens. The rook had a perfect view of the best part of the castle. Beautiful to look at but hardly enjoyable in my situation. It had been days since the king found me in the forest and made me stay in his bedroom. After the night he cleaned my injuries, there was no sight of him around. He didn't show up when I demanded to see him but I knew he had visited the room. His smell lingered on the sheets in the morning, and the girl sent his clothes down to be laundered. So he definitely came around. But I couldn't figure out why he was keeping me here and avoiding me too. His silent treatment could be considered a punishment if he didn't have guards treating me like fucking royalty. What was that? A loud creak came from behind me and I looked over at the door that opened. Arin walked in, a gentle smile on her face. "Your lunch is here" she said cautiously as she set the tray on the table. I looked back outside the window. "Is he coming today?"

I shook my head, not understanding what he meant. "Every moment of the day you'll remain by my side. Where I can always see you" I lost the ability to breathe as each sentence slipped out. "I'll never let you go and in time, you'll realize there are worse things than my attention" I shook my head. "No. I can't do that" "I'm not giving you a choice Rebeccah. You've been gunning for your punishment and you have it now. Your best option is to adapt" I shook my head again. "It's improper. I'm a servant. How can I be by your side every day?" KING LEONIDAS POVMy head throbbed in the empty room. I eyed the sheets that were soaked in her scent. I had no idea what it was about her scent that suddenly had me hooked. Heat. It burned through my skin as something lay above me. My eyes flew open in panic and I struggled under the weight. It took a brief second for me to realize that it was a body. A large male body.
