Chapter 11

Nightshade is a deadly poison used only on our enemies. Touching it is enough to almost kill someone. It’s early in the day and since I wasn’t able to check the garden earlier in the week I decide head out this morning. To protect against thieves, hang rose Mary in your windows and doorways. We walk over to the beach, and we bring the kayaks down to the water. There’s a small storage box outside with paddles and life jackets inside. We buckle up our jackets and head into the water. It’s a calm evening, the water is crystal clear; our paddles are creating ripples in the water as we tread along. We stay close to the shore because it will be dark soon and the open water is no place to be in the dark. We paddle past a long mountain side with a small cavern.
