The arena was dead silent.A training accident, they called it. It had happened that a rare spearhead had dislodged from the ceiling where it was hanged and it sank right into the little boy. No one expected it. No one could have stopped it.Except for one girl. The same girl they had mocked, ridiculed, and beaten.Tiara.---The following day, Alpha Zach stood outside the old cabin on the outskirts of the village, looking at Tiara's tiny door. The guards who had come with him glanced at each other, obviously uneasy. They had never seen their alpha in such a devastating state. He looked so humble, his shoulders were lowered, and his lips were tightly pressed against each other in regret. He slowly lifted his hand as if it was heavy. He knocked once. When the door creaked open, Tiara appeared, wearing a blank expression, dried blood crusted along her cheek.“I know,” she said, heaving a sigh before she continued to speak. “I know that he is gone.”Zach tried to speak, but no words cam

The Scarlet Pack was way quieter and peaceful than Edwin had expected.Situated between hills of crimson-streaked rocks and evergreen trees, the settlement felt strangely reverent as if even the wind knew to move carefully. The Seer’s dwelling was not grand like he had envisioned and thought of it. The old cabin was still as it was, only with a little renovations here and there. Dozens of offerings of flowers, coins, fabrics, and food lined the path.“She lives alone,” the escort from alpha Zach explained. “but the strange thing is that she takes no visitors unless summoned, but she suddenly agreed to see the Alpha of Dark Moon.”"Hmm, I see," Edwin replied, observing his environment.Stopping at the door, the escort insisted that Edwin went ahead. “The Seer’s powers are real, my lord. I think it would be a safer and more accommodating environment for you if you go inside alone. You will be free to discuss your issues with her,” he said with a confident smirk.Curious as to why the es

Tiara watched as Edwin staggered towards the door. Her heart softened at the sight of it.She quickly stepped closer, tugging at his clothes. She then spoke in a steady voice which was eerily calm."Edwin!" She called, reaching out to him."I know that you must think I enjoyed speaking doom over you but, I speak nothing but the truth," she softly saidClearing her throat, “she is going to try to take your place, Edwin. Not just as Luna, but as the Alpha. She wants control over the pack, over the lands, and over everything your father died protecting,”She paused, letting the weight of her words settle like fine particles of sand.“And she definitely will succeed…and that will happen if you do not stop her.”Edwin felt like he could not breathe. His pulse thundered in his ears. Every meeting, every hollow promise, every fake smile and moment with Vanessa suddenly flashed through his head. They all seemed calculated."When you knew that she could be stopped and that she was this evil, w

The wind was sharper the second time Edwin arrived at the edge of the Scarlet Pack's territory, but it did not stop him from riding straight to the old and quiet cottage nestled between the trees. The scent of sage, vegetation, and cedar still lingered in the air, calm and haunting, just like the woman who lived within its walls. He dismounted from his horse, and his heart started to beat with quiet urgency. This time, he did not wait for a summons, he knocked on the door once, and then stepped inside.Tiara was seated cross-legged before a low table on which she gently grinded dried herbs into a bowl. Her expression was unreadable, but her hands paused the moment she felt his presence.“I came back,” he quietly said, uncertainty registered in his voice.“Hmm, I noticed,” she replied without looking up.“I had to,” he continued, before stepping closer. “I have been thinking about what you said. About Vanessa, and about what I let happen to me and my pack. I finally see that you were

Days continued to roll over days, turning into weeks.Edwin kept up with his alpha responsibilities: he made appearances, had meetings with the elders of council, and even took walks with Vanessa. They had empty conversations about ceremonies and public appearances. He nodded, he smiled, and he endured in silence. But every morning, before the sun rose, a black-feathered pigeon would land at the edge of his private chamber's window, bearing a small strip of parchment tied beneath its wing.Edwin was always up before the time the bird arrives. He knew that he had to be extra careful, and not draw attention to himself or raise Vanessa's suspicions. The messages were always brief, and cryptic. The words encrypted in the tiny bamboo paper would be meaningless to anyone else. But not to him, they were everything."The moon watches from behind the clouds. Still constant, still waiting, The day of reckoning is near." "Play the game caeselessly, protect your kingdom. A queen returns only whe
