Amarok's POV I was exhausted. The feeling settled deep into my bones and refused to leave. The day had been a lot, but despite all of it, one thought kept returning to my mind.Liora. Specifically, her blood.I sat behind my desk, staring into the dying flames of the fireplace. The three guards lay motionless on the floor before me. Two were already dead but the third was still alive. For now.Cassian stood beside the fireplace with his usual expression of disapproval. He had been unusually quiet for several minutes. That alone told me he was thinking and I already knew what he had on his mind."We should kill her" he said finally. I sighed."I'm nkt surprised you would say that" I said.Cassian folded his arms."You know I'm right.""No, you're not" I argued. His jaw tightened."Amarok."I leaned back in my chair."What?""She's dangerous" he said.I almost laughed."So is everyone in this room.""You know what I mean."I did.Unfortunately for him, I disagreed."You're looking at

Liora’s POV I had not expected Amarok to be that strong. The realization came as I stood pinned against the wall, his hand wrapped firmly around my wrist while his sharp eyes studied me with suspicion.Every plan I had imagined suddenly felt very foolish. I had honestly not accounted for him to have this kind of strength. I knew he was powerful, but not like this. I was completely helpless in his arms. They could break me in seconds before I could get a chance to do anything. For a terrifying moment, I thought he might actually throw me out of his room before I got any answers, but fortunately, Amarok finally loosened his grip. His gaze never left my face and I could tell what was going through his head."What are you doing here, Liora?" He asked, his eyes narrowing at me.I forced myself to stay calm but Inside, my heart was pounding. This entire plan depended on keeping Amarok distracted enough to slip up and tell me everything he knows about my secret and more importantly, keepi

Amarok's POV For a moment, my mind went completely blank.Liora's hands were still on my face, her eyes were closed and she had just kissed me.Of all the things I had expected tonight, this was not one of them, not even close. The room seemed to fall silent around us, the fire crackled softly in the background, the glasses of untouched alcohol sat forgotten on the table and for several seconds, I simply stood there, stunned.Liora finally pulled away, her breathing was uneven but mine wasn't much better. The problem was that I had enjoyed it, gar more than I should have, far more than was wise, especially considering the fact that she was nothing more than a pawn in my grand plan.A dangerous feeling stirred inside me, one I immediately tried to suppress.Liora looked nervous now, almost as if she regretted what she had done. However, had spent my entire life around liars and while Liora was many things, she was not a convincing liar."What was that?" I asked, her voice low.Her eye

Liora's POVThe moment the bathroom door closed, I released a breath I hadn't realized I was holding. My entire body sagged with relief. For several seconds, I simply stood there staring at the closed door while my heart pounded violently against my ribs."He bought it" I said, my voice barely above a whisper.A second later, Fay emerged from her hiding place, her eyes huge. She stared at me as if she had never seen me before. For several seconds, neither of us spoke then Fay she covered her mouth with her hand."You kissed him. You actually kissed him" she said."Fay.""What is wrong with you?"I buried my face in my hands..The memory alone was embarrassing enough, I didn't need Fay making it worse."It was the only thing I could think of" I replied. "The only thing?""At the time, yes. I panicked" I answered. "No kidding."I sighed heavily."Can we focus on the important part of getting out of here?" Immediately, her expression changed. The reminder seemed to bring her back to re

Alpha Kael's POVAs Rio finished speaking, I leaned against the wall and studied him in silence. The holding room felt suffocatingly small. A single light hung overhead, casting harsh shadows across the room.Rio looked exhausted, but not relieved and that told me everything I needed to know.He was still hiding something, I could feel it. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to drag every secret out of him tonight.Liora came first. Everything else could wait, even Rio's punishment. Though I fully intended to deal with that later.I stepped closer."Don't mistake my patience for forgiveness" I said.Rio nodded his head."You will answer for this when we get home" I said. His expression immediately changed. Now he looked concerned."What exactly does that mean?" He asked."You'll find out" I replied. The room fell silent. For a few seconds, neither of us spoke as my thoughts returned to the larger problem.Liora.Everything seemed to lead back to her. The realization irritated me more t
