Alpha Kael's POVOf all the places I expected to find Liora, this wasn't one of them. For a moment, I genuinely thought I was imagining things. The hallway was crowded with confusion. Alarms blared throughout the safe house, guards were running in every direction, orders were being shouted and somehow, in the middle of all that chaos, Liora practically ran straight into me.My mind stalled, just for a second, long enough to stare at her to make sure she was actually standing there.Beside her stood Fay, who looked equally shocked. The two of them looked frozen, as if they couldn't believe I was standing in front of them either.Rio was the first to recover."Well, this is awkward" he said.He looked between everyone but nobody answered him.I couldn't take my eyes off Liora. The anger I had been carrying ever since discovering she was missing should have been the first thing I felt, it should have consumed me. Instead, relief appeared first.I immediately hated that feeling, so natura

Amarok's POVThe entire safe house was in chaos, and every passing second seemed to make my mood deteriorate.Guards ran through the corridors but nobody seemed capable of giving me a useful answer which only made my temper worse.I stood in the middle of the command room while several guards shifted nervously around me.Nobody wanted to meet my eyes.I folded my arms and the room immediately fell silent."Explain this to me" I started. Several guards visibly paled."An intruder entered my safe house, passed through my security, walked through my hallways and somehow none of you noticed" I said.A guard swallowed."Sir—"The moment he spoke, every other guard looked at him with pity because they knew the poor fool had volunteered himself.I slowly turned toward him."Yes?"His face immediately lost color."I..."There was a pause then another. He couldn't even form a sentence."I what?"The guard straightened, trying to appear confident but failing miserably."We're searching" he sai

Alpha Kael's POVThe corridor looked like a battlefield, which, admittedly, was exactly what it had become.Several unconscious guards were scattered throughout the hallway, groaning or completely motionless. Others had dragged themselves into corners, unwilling to continue fighting. The smell of sweat, fear, and blood hung heavily in the air and standing in the center of it all was me.I glanced around the corridor and almost laughed. Not a single guard was willing to approach me anymore.A few minutes ago they had rushed me confidently, now they couldn't even maintain eye contact. One guard shifted nervously when my gaze landed on him while another immediately looked away.A third actually took a step backward and I smirked."Cowards" I said. The word echoed through the hallway and several guards visibly flinched.I rolled my shoulders. The important thing was that I had delayed them, long enough for Rio, Fay, and Liora to reach the gate.At least, that was the plan. Hopefully Rio h

Alpha Kael's POVSomething was very wrong and the longer I stood in front of Amarok, the more convinced I became. The man was hiding something. The guards watched nervously from a distance. Nobody seemed eager to become involved in whatever was happening between Amarok and me.A wise decision because I was running out of patience.I folded my arms."You know something" I said.Amarok's expression remained unreadable."I know many things" he replied. "About Liora" I clarified. A flicker appeared in his eyes, almost invisible but I saw it.Amarok smiled faintly."I don't know what you're talking about" he said.I took a step forward and several guards immediately tensed."What do you know?" I demanded. Amarok tilted his head slightly."What exactly are you asking?"I hated answers like that. They were designed to waste time, to frustrate people, to avoid giving useful information and unfortunately for him, I was already frustrated."What makes her so important to you? What are you pl

Alpha Kael's POVAmarok's words echoed through my mind like a curse. Every repetition made my jaw tighten further, every repetition made my temper worsen and every repetition made me want to put my fist through the nearest wall, or through Amarok's face. The fact that he had sounded so calm when he said it only made it worse. As though the memory pleased him.The thought alone sent another wave of anger through me and I clenched my fists hard. The muscles in my forearms tightened, my nails dug into my palms and still it wasn't enough.Across from me, Amarok remained completely composed, watching me, like a predator observing another predator. He knew exactly what he had done, I could see it in his eyes and he was enjoying every second of it.The realization made my blood boil while a small smile tugged at the corner of Amarok's mouth.I started walking toward him. Every step echoed through the corridor and the atmosphere changed instantly. The guards noticed then fear spread across se
