“It’s Gavin.” Brielle answered before I could say anything and I looked at her like she’d just betrayed me. Landon didn’t need to hear any more. He turned around and left. “Wait!” I called her and tried to go after him but my legs were still weak from whatever Kain drugged me with. I couldn’t move quickly and Brielle had to help me up. “Landon!” I called but he was gone.I struggled forward, hurrying after him as he stormed off. He looked like he was going to kill and Gavin was about to have a really bad day. “Take me.” I pleaded to Brielle. “Take me to him.”She guided me forward, where Landon had disappeared into. We walked past the restaurant where we used got our food from and to an inner room. Everyone was curious about the commotion but they didn’t follow thankfully. Only Emily and the rest were curious and came with us, following Landon. I was too slow and by the time I got there, Gavin’s face was already bloody. His hand was bent in a weird angle and he was on his knees,

Day 16“Have you heard who is replacing Gavin?” Leo said, looking at me. I tilted my head, clueless. “Who is it?”Emily and Leo exchanged a tensed look. “You won’t believe it.”“C’mon, guys. Who is it?” I demanded, feeling on edge by their silence. Emily sighed, “No one else but Marcus.”“What?” I almost spat out the tea I just took a sip of. “Why? How is that possible.”“I’m also puzzled, myself. I mean, there should be other candidates. Besides, he’s also a guest here. What right does he have to manage the ship.”“Who appointed him?”“The big shots.” Jeffrey said, “They own the ship and can do whatever they like.”I couldn’t help but think about the man Landon said was behind his sisters death. He might be the owner of this ship. “Do you think Marcus is going to abuse that power?”“That’s what everyone is talking about.” Emily said. “Everyone saw how Landon killed Gavin without consequences. I expected the next person who took the reigns will be cautious enough to not mess with u

I was curled up in Landon’s arms, tracing circles around his chest, both of us breathing hard. “You dislike Marcus?” I asked carefully, wondering about the story between them. “I hate him.” Landon whispered, staring up at the ceiling as if lost in his thoughts.“Why?”He chuckled, “Must there be a reason to hate someone?”“There’s always a reason.”“There’s none in this case. I don’t like his guts.”“Or the fact you can’t touch him.” I whispered and saw the deadly look in Landon’s eyes as he turned his head to look at me. “Who told you that?”“I… I figured it out.”“You figured nothing out.” Landon said, “Marcus is a man with a limited number of days to live.”My heart jumped when I heard the seriousness in his voice. “What are you planning to do?”“I saw the way he was looking at you, little lamb. He sees you as a woman he can conquer, a woman that can be stolen from me. Heh,” he scoffed, and it only made my blood run cold, “Anyone who lays a finger on you will face my wrath. Anyo

That night, Landon sneaked into my room through the balcony while I was asleep. I only felt the bed dip in my sleep and then his strong arms wrapped over me as he threw the sheets over us. I loved the way he held me, so close, like he couldn’t bear to let me go. “What are you doing here?”My voice came out as a murmur, sleepy and tired.“I need you.” He whispered near my ear, pulling me closer to his chest like he wanted our skins to merge. I shivered, wanting nothing but to settle in his warm arms but I remembered his uncle’s words earlier and I suddenly wondered how long this was going to last for me. Was I going to be able to bear losing him? Would I be okay with that?“I didn’t see you all day today.” He murmurred again my skin, making shivers run down my spine.“I wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone.”Landon paused, like he sensed something was wrong. “What happened?”“Nothing.” “C’mon,” he coaxed softly, propping himself up on his elbows as he gently patted my hair, “What

A week has passed. I didn’t see Landon. Not even for breakfast or dinner. He was just… gone. When I asked Ivy, she claimed he was busy but I knew he was avoiding me. Maybe he was mad at me, maybe he was truly busy but his absence made me feel hollow. I wondered if it felt like that for him as well. The ship was bustling with activities. It turned around a few days ago, heading back to shore. There were lots of parties. It didn’t take too long to forget everything that happened. The lives lost in the hands of those humans. I even heard a few of them escaped and it made me wonder if Melody was among them. God, that girl was innocent looking but vicious. I didn’t want any part in her business. I just couldn’t wait to go back home.I mean, I was more certain I was going to arrive safely. Because of the red root, everyone thought all humans had been eliminated so they were much more relaxed. There wasn’t a hunt party searching for humans on board. And so it’s been peaceful. At least mos
