Hundred-Nineteen~No problem

Erin's povThe door to my room flung open and Brandon stepped in. He had an icy look on his face as he flung his shoes away from his legs before settling on the couch across from me. I sat on the bed, working on my laptop. I had called him to explain the situation to him and he clearly acted like he couldn't understand what I was saying before saying he would visit me at home. I knew the visit wasn't going to be a nice one.“What were you saying over the phone?” He finally asked and I turned to glance at him.He had his hands crossed over his chest as he accessed me. I dropped the laptop on the bed and squared my shoulders before returning my attention to him. “You heard me over the phone, Brandon.” I sighed roughly. He shook his head lightly. “No, I didn't.”I waited a while before recounting what had happened to him.“She came over to have sex with you?” He asked and I nodded, a blush creeping into my face. I wasn't a teenager, why was I flushing red because of sex?Brandon contin

Hundred-Twenty~New interest

Lisa's pov I left Erin's place with no destination in mind. I didn't want to return to the hollow silence of my apartment and I would be unable to stand my siblings inquiring about their mother if I stopped over at the family house so I stayed away for my own good, and so that I wouldn't crash out on them.I suddenly felt lonely. And Julie was the cause of everything. Yet, there was no way I would abandon her to her fate. If a top lawyer like me could face this difficulty in solving her case, I genuinely wonder how other lawyers would solve it. I didn't want to find out. She was my mother and I was responsible for her or so I thought.I just wanted to make one reckless decision last night and I did. It felt good last night. It had been so long since I tasted Erin that I had almost forgotten how intoxicating he could be and how insatiable I could get.I had wanted us to spend at least the morning together, hoping he wouldn't wake up and chase me away but I had fucked it all up.I didn

Hundred-Twentyone~ Sweet Guilt

Lisa's pov “A question I've been wanting to ask.” Megan looked up from her laptop. I tilted my head to glance at her. “Why's your mother still bearing your father's last name?” She asked.I sighed before replying. I had asked my mother this same question. “She said something about keeping my father's last name intact.” I shrugged. “Your brother's there to do that.” She said. “Well,” I spread out my hands. “That was her logic behind it.”Megan shook her head but said no more.“What did you find about Aria?” I asked impatiently but was met with silence. Megan was doing the one thing she knew I hated most. Keeping me in suspense.“Ralph is still in prison and he's getting even more angrier by the day.” Megan looked up and met my ivy eyes and she shook her head. “I'm leaving the best for the last, okay?” She said.“And you genuinely think this is funny?” I asked and that was when she realized I was getting angry.“Okay, I'm sorry.” She said in surrender. “But I still have to say it bit

Hundred-Twenty-two~Uncle dear

Lisa's pov My car pulled to a stop at the station and I alighted, followed by Megan. I felt my body go cold by the absurdity of the situation and it was times like this I wished my father was still alive. He was a better lawyer than me and would handle the situation more better than I would ever dream of. In my early days as a law student, he was always giving me advice on how to follow through cases. Advice I thought was useless until now. It was true that he didn't know the value of someone until they left.Megan's hands on my back brought me back to reality, I've been staring at the building. “Are you okay?” She asked slowly.“I'm fine.” I replied and continued walking inside. It's been years since I saw Uncle Ralph and seeing him in this position now left me giddy. His visits after my father's death spanned the space of two to three years before he stopped. He had been so close to my siblings that they got affected by him stopping his visits. I wasn't affected or maybe I simply

Hundred-Twenty-three~Dirty Affair

Lisa's pov“Who's Aria?” I asked again. “Aria Stephen precisely.” I added but Ralph said nothing.“What do you want with her? Are you going around digging places that you're not supposed to dig at?” He finally asked and I saw genuine concern in his voice. Was Aria that dangerous? I mean she was working as an illegal drug seller but still… Ralph reacted like she was a serial killer on the loose.“What do you know about her?” I pressed on.Ralph sighed and leaned on the table. “There's nothing to know about her. Aria is extremely dangerous.”“Speaking that lowly about your ex, someone would think of something else.” I snickered and watched the surprise and disbelief colour his face.“What exactly do you know about her?” Ralph asked. And as if as an afterthought, he added. “Julie would be so disappointed in you for doing this. She had done all she could to keep y'all safe from her family. Aria is the most dangerous and that's who you're so keen about. I'm sure you haven't met her.” Ralph

Hundred-Twenty-four~Pity! Pity!

Lisa's pov When I walked back to Megan, she said nothing. She just threw her hands around me and gave a nod to the sheriff before she led me outside.I took the passenger's seat and waited as she walked over to the other side of the car and got in. She stayed in the silence with me for a while before she spoke up. “Are you hungry?” She asked.“Let's go on and see Aria.” I replied almost immediately.“That's not the answer to my question.” Her voice was stern. I didn't give a response, I said nothing. I sat back, fighting the pool of tears forming in my eyes.“Cry if you want to.” She scooted closer to me and slowly dropped my head on her chest. The tears came quickly and I hated myself for that. I'd never been weak. I was always capable of holding back my tears, my pains. Up until now, I guess. Julie was messing up with my mental health and was blaming it for me.The hot tears soaked through Megan's blouse but she didn't seem to care. She held me closer and patted my hair. After wha

Hundred-Twenty-five~Something to look out for

Lisa's pov I didn't stop. Couldn't stop. I ran up to the car and rushed inside, my heart thumping against my chest. I leaned back on the seat and pressed my hands to my chest as sobs escaped my lips, my tears falling like torrents.Megan caught up with me minutes later but she didn't get inside the car. She leaned against the car and allowed me privacy.“I don't want to be this weak.” I breathed out and I knew she heard me. I had no explanation for why I was feeling this way today. Maybe because I had slowly come to the realization that I was losing everyone I cared about because of Julie, probably because of what happened with Erin early today but I didn't want it. It made me seem weak and I had never been weak.Through my blurred vision, I saw Erin stepping out of the restaurant, he was alone. My heart beat increased. His destination was sure. The car.“Megan, let's leave.” I called, a little too loudly.Megan got into the car with a raised eyebrow. “Are you sure?” She asked as she

Hundred-Twenty-Six~Sibling Rivalry

Lisa's pov The footsteps drew closer and I stood up, gesturing Megan to do the same and she obeyed, even as Aria came into view with a pissed expression on her face. I didn't know what the staff had said to her but I knew one thing for sure, this wasn't going to end well. The staff stepped away and my eyes fell on the two kids that flanked Aria's side looking on curiously. A boy and a girl. Her twins. My chest tightened again.Looking past Aria's pissed expression, she was a very beautiful woman and at first glance didn't look scary. She had beautiful doe eyes and brown curly hair that she packed into a ponytail. She had a piercing on her eyebrow. On closer look, there was a knife cut that ran through from her left cheek to her mouth but the scar was faint now. Her rolled up sleeves revealed a bunch of tattoos and some had colours in it. When I raised my head back to her face, she wasn't just pissed but she looked unimpressed and her eyes bore into me. Well, I had been gawking at he

Hundred-Twenty-Seven~Why we fight

Lisa's pov “Are you accusing me of not only framing Julie but also of being a fraudster? Of aiding Ralph? Ralph? Leave.” Aria was pissed.“No, that's not what we meant.” Megan replied immediately. “We're looking for a way forward and we would like to know what you might know about this and in the same process, know more about what happened between you and Julie to understand more about this and also for Lisa's sake.” Megan said and Aria’s anger subsided a little. “We would just like to know everything you know.”“I indeed do have access to the bank. What else do you want to know?” She asked. I fell silent. I didn't know what I had expected but I didn't expect her to agree to the fact that she had access to the bank. If she was the one that indeed framed Julie, she wouldn't have agreed so easily especially when there was no evidence.“Can you appear in court?” Megan asked cautiously.Aria threw her head backwards in mocking laughter. “To take over Julie's position in prison and get y

Hundred-Twenty-Eight~What Mama had been lying about

Lisa's pov The next day by 10am met me and Megan outside the station. I had returned back to Aria to take her contact number and we had decided on 10am as the meeting time for the questioning.I didn't want to know how she felt on going back to see the sister who had shattered her life to pieces. I didn't know what after everything, I was still unwilling to drop the case. Everything was pointing towards Julie as the fraudster. Maybe Erin was right. I didn't want to think about anybody now, especially not Erin. I and Megan leaned against the car as we waited for Aria. It was already past 10 and I was checking my time impatiently.Megan tapped my arms lightly. “Calm down, she will be here soon. She's probably attending to her kids.” I nodded but intrusive thoughts still ran through my mind. How could I possibly calm down?“Lisa, Megan.” I snapped my head towards the voice. Aria. She alighted from her car and walked over to us. She had a light smile on her face. “I'm sorry for keeping
