A part of me hoped I had misheard my ears.My prisoner was free.“What did you say?” I sneered at the sheriff. He didn’t look scared. “You definitely heard me, Mr Erin. Her attorney, Miss Lisa walked in here and was able to argue out her mother’s temporal release,”I scoffed. “Temporal release. The last time I checked, she’s a criminal,”“It’s her mother’s name on the papers,” he argued.Which by the way was a smart move by Julie.Somehow that had slipped in my haste of nailing Julie.Even the sheriff had not noticed until we had Julie in the station where she continuously denied doing fraudulent business with Ralph Hunclins but went further to slip that he was real close with her mother. And that’s when the Sheriff called my attention to the document.Everything… all the documents were in her late mother’s name. Erin's povI didn't want to place Lisa's in a senseless category but I genuinely thought she was bigger than Julie's manipulation. We had gone through this several times and though it's my fault for still hiding things from her, I'm only doing it for her own good. She didn't have to know about everything her mother and so called Uncle has done. But still again, she's supposed to know enough to know that Julie cannot be trusted. I finished some of the paperwork and pushed the files away, grabbing my phone and walking outside my office. I left a quick text asking Brandon where he was as my eyes swept through the office. Inasmuch as I wanted to stay pissed at her, I just couldn't. The hold she had on me. She was inside Megan's office. She and Megan were seated, talking about something, probably related to the case, almost everything recently was related to Julie and the case. Lisa had a glass of alcohol on her hands and I almost smiled to myself.Megan noticed me first and gave me a p

Lisa's pov It was less than two days before the court papers came and until then, my mother was still locked up behind bars. The first court meeting was scheduled in two weeks time and I didn't dare sit idle even though Julie being away gave a little peace to my life. I didn't see Erin during that period, didn't call, didn't text and wasn't able to catch him in the office, though it wasn't in my mind to see him. He was probably gathering more evidence on Julie. He had no reason to meet me anymore, I had made it clear I was behind my mother and wouldn't support his scheme to bring her down. Maybe when we get evidence about her ruining multiple children then I might consider. And even if Erin wasn't behind this, his posts gave someone the push to do this and I couldn't wait to see that person and their lawyer, I would so crush them.I had just walked into the firm when I caught a glimpse of Erin through the small crack in his doors. I exhaled slowly and headed to Megan's.“Lisa.” Me

Erin's pov I turned to look at Lisa as she packed her things inside her bag. Judge Roseline had left the court after adjusting the hearing and Julie was being taken out but not after glaring daggers at me. She had aged in the space of two weeks. No wonder she needed enough money to keep up with her lifestyle. I picked up my bag and strode out of the court room only for me to be slammed against the wall. It was Lisa. I didn't even notice when she left the court. She pressed her arms over my neck as she glared at me. “What the hell are you doing, Erin? Which game are you playing?” She hissed out. I slowly removed her arms from my throat and forced her to take some steps backwards, coughing violently. “Game?” I forced it out of my lips. “What do you mean games?” I asked. “Oh, don't play clueless with me. What are you playing at?” Lisa spat out. “I'm just a lawyer, working for his client.” I shrugged, watching her get all red in denial. “Then who's the client?” She looked around
