Chapter 24 The SUV tore through the back roads, headlights off, engine screaming like a wounded animal. Smoke and the metallic stink of blood filled the cabin. Marco—Leo’s real father, the man he’d only just met—slumped against the seat, face pale, shirt soaked crimson where a bullet had torn through his side. “Stay with us, old man,” Leo growled, pressing both hands hard against the wound.
