Chapter 122 Julian Cross ~•~ I felt like a really terrible person when Aria told me that she just found out she’d been cheated on, and the first thought that came to my mind was that maybe this was my second chance with her. The thought of it made me sick. She had just walked away with tears in her eyes, completely heartbroken, and instead of feeling sorry for her, a selfish part of me had only seen hope. I hated myself for it. No matter how much I loved Aria and how desperate I wanted to be with her, I didn’t want her to feel any pain. I let out a frustrated sigh before going back into the bedroom to meet the kids. As I closed the door behind me, I cleared my throat. “What do you guys think about spending the night here?” I asked the kids because Aria had left without telling them. “We’ve missed you so much, Daddy,” Owen answered. “We would love to spend the night here.” I narrowed my gaze on Isla. “You too?” She nodded. “Yes. But is mommy okay?” I scratched the back of

Chapter 124Aria Blake ~•~ At this point in my life, Sophia was the nicest person ever. Just because I was heartbroken, she flew over to New York to spend some time with me. “You’ve been staring at me for three minutes now, is everything okay?” Her soft voice snapped me back to reality. I dragged a hand through my hair, laughing. “I’m sorry. Yes, everything is okay,” I answered before taking a sip from my glass. She forced me to go out with her to a restaurant that was close to my house. We ordered a lot of food because I’d been having difficulty eating in the past five days. “So what were you thinking about?” she asked, raising a brow at me. “You can’t even say you weren’t thinking about anything.” I let out a wistful sigh. “I was actually thinking about how lucky I am to have you in my life,” I admitted, my voice solemn. “Like you’re a great person.” Sophia blushed. “I know you would do the same for me.” I nodded in agreement. “Yes, I would, but nothing is going to come in

Chapter 126Julian Cross ~•~ I knew I sounded ridiculous asking Aria to drop the charges, but I had no other way to handle Aiden. There was nothing else I could say or do to calm him down. Everything was weighing down on me. I tapped my fingers impatiently on the table as I waited for Aria and the kids to arrive. It was a good thing that I had a spare key or she would have kept me outside. The kids’ school wasn’t that far and Aria had been gone for over an hour. I knew she had intentionally taken a detour so I would get tired and leave. But that wasn’t going to happen. I didn’t have anything to do for the rest of the day, so I didn’t mind waiting until she finally decided to show up. I picked up my phone and dialed her number. She didn’t answer. I tried a few more times. Still the same. No response. A bitter scoff escaped my lips. She knew exactly what she was doing. I decided to send her a text instead. That would be a faster way to pass my message. She still didn’t reply

Chapter 128Julian Cross ~•~ I spent most of the night tossing and turning, barely getting any sleep. The only things on my mind were Harper, Jason, and Aiden. At some point, I even got out of bed. I went to Aiden’s room and watched him silently while he slept. It felt like I was going crazy. I just wanted morning to come, so I would finally figure out the truth. A soft knock on my door snapped me out of my thoughts. I let out a deep exhale before I answered the door. It was Aiden. I pulled him into a warm hug, ruffling his hair. “Come inside,” I said, gesturing for him to sit on the bed. Then I closed the door and sat down beside him. “How are you doing?” “I’m fine…” He didn’t sound fine. It was clear that he still missed his mother. Maybe he felt it was too early to cry. “Are you hungry?” “No.” Silence stretched between us for a few moments. I had a question. I didn’t think it was appropriate to ask him, but I was desperate. “Aiden…” I began quietly. “Yes.” He looked u

Chapter 130Aria Blake ~•~ “Mommy, are you okay?” Isla asked, rubbing my back gently. I hadn’t even realized that she had walked into my room. I quickly wiped off my tears before turning to face her. “Yes, baby. I’m okay,” I said, forcing my voice to sound steady. Isla didn’t look convinced. “But your eyes are red and you were crying when I walked inside,” she said sharply. “What happened?” I cleared my throat. I couldn’t tell her that I was crying because I woke up in the morning and thought about my breakup with Samuel. All the emotions suddenly came rushing back. Plus, the kids had no idea that our relationship had ended. I only wanted to tell them about it when I’d moved past the situation. I honestly thought I’d made progress, but the wound still felt fresh. Healing from Samuel was going to take a little bit of time.“Nothing happened, baby…” I said, ruffling her hair. “You shouldn’t have to worry about me. I’m okay.” Isla folded her arms and gave me a skeptical look.
