B I A N C A"Natalia is back. And I’m making her my wife."My spoon froze halfway between the bowl and my mouth. I stared at Lucas, the seriousness in his eyes as he spoke those words like it was the simplest thing in the world. Realization suddenly hit me like a bucket of ice water, I had made a grave mistake. Lucas and I have been together for three years. I met him at the lowest point of my life, and he had given me the stability I had craved so much. I thought I had found my forever in him. Stupid me even thought he was going to propose when I found a beautiful ring in his jacket pocket this morning. I made every preparation to say yes, made his favorite for dinner, wore a beautiful red dress. But instead of being proposed to, he wants to get back with his first love who had gone abroad three years ago for treatment after being diagnosed with cancer, and he wants to marry her. "H-how can you?" I stammered, my heart clenching so painfully in my chest. "You are going to leave me,

B I A N C AMy eyes burned and my cheeks heated. Anger rose in my chest, but I forced myself to control.Don't lose it, Bianca. You can't. Not here, not now."Hi, Bianca," Natalia said. "Nice to see you again. Lucas has told me a lot about you. All good things, of course."“New hair, I see.” Lucas added, as his narrowed eyes at my now shorter and brown hair. Before I could respond, the door opened and Lucas’s mother and sister rushed out, with a few of their friends following closely behind them. They had always disliked me from the very beginning."Lovely to see you, Natalia! Welcome home, dear!" Lucas’s mother cooed, completely ignoring me.It wasn't a surprise. I had never been good enough for their family."You're glowing!" Lucas's sister, Clara, gushed, pulling Natalia into a hug. "We are so happy you're back."They acted as if I was invisible. Then finally, as if just noticing my presence, their eyes flickered over me. "Oh, it's you," Lucas’s mother said, her lip curling in dis

B I A N C AI arrived at the jeweler’s store the next day and the moment I set my eyes on the wedding ring, I was surprised. It was the most beautiful ring I’ve ever set my eyes on.It was a marquise diamond ring. The diamond was huge and sparkling. It was set on a platinum band with smaller diamonds embedded all around it. The craftsmanship was exquisite. The diamond was so big that it looked like it was going to swallow my finger whole, but still managed to fit my finger perfectly.I didn’t think much of it beyond the fact that Damian was always precise and a perfectionist, someone who made sure everything was perfect no matter what it was.Right on cue, his text message popped up on my screen. “How is the ring? Does it fit?”Instead of texting back a reply, I took a picture of the ring on my finger and sent it to him. His response came a second later. “It looks pretty on you. Your hands make it look even better.”I raised an eyebrow at the text, choosing to ignore it instead. He w

B I A N C AThe next few days flew by fast. Lucas had gone back to Natalia the day we had an altercation, still refusing to believe I had a fiancé. And he had not returned to the penthouse since. It was fine with me. I needed the space to pack in peace. The penthouse was empty and silent, a huge relief from the troubles that ensued when Lucas was around. My flight to LA was scheduled for tonight, and I was more than ready to leave. My identity as Bianca Salvatore had always been a secret I guarded fiercely. The world knew me as Bianca Salvatore, a poor girl who just happened to have the same name as a billionaire’s daughter. Nobody had ever connected the dots. And I had made sure of it.I had lived a simple life, trying to experience the world without the restrictions of my family's name and fortune. But Lucas's betrayal had made me realize that my attempt at a 'normal' life was a failure. He didn't love me for me. He loved the idea of me. The me he had created in his mind. The obed

B I A N C AMy old room was exactly as I had left it. The walls were painted a soft shade of pink, and my bed was covered in a fluffy white comforter. My bookshelf was filled with my favorite books, and my desk was cluttered with old photos and mementos. It was a room that belonged to a different person. A girl who was naive and innocent, who believed in fairy tales and happy endings. I was not that girl anymore.I walked over to my window and looked out at the city lights twinkling in the distance. I felt a wave of loneliness wash over me. I was back in my old room, in my old house, with my old family. But I had never felt more alone.A soft knock on the door broke me out of my thoughts."Come in," I said, my voice barely a whisper. The door opened, and Marco walked in. He was carrying two glasses of wine."I figured you could use this," he said, handing me a glass."Thanks," I said, taking a sip of the rich red liquid. He sat down on my bed, patting the space next to him. I sat dow
