B I A N C AAfter two whole weeks in paradise, we headed back to our reality. It was a bittersweet feeling to leave the island behind, but it was also good to be going home. To our home.We didn't fly private this time, but we had a whole row to ourselves in the business class. I was so exhausted from all the traveling that I slept most of the way back.Damian woke me up when we landed. "We're home, sleepyhead," he said, kissing my forehead."Home," I said, my heart swelling with warmth. It still felt strange to say that word and know that it was our home. Not my parents' house, not an apartment I was renting, but our home.It still feels surreal that I was married, and had a home. Chloe and Marci have been hitting it off very nicely and I couldn't be happier for them. The tension between them has completely vanished, and they've been acting like a proper couple. Marco has been more attentive and caring than I've ever seen him be, and Chloe seems to be basking in it. I've caught the

B I A N C AMy next meeting with the marketing team went just as well. They were excited about the new direction for the company, and we spent the rest of the meeting brainstorming ideas for the new campaign.By the time I was done, it was almost 2. I grabbed my purse and headed to the restaurant where I was meeting my mother. The restaurant was a chic little bistro downtown, one of my mom's favorite spots. I found her sitting at a table by the window, a glass of white wine in front of her."Bianca, darling," she said, getting up to kiss me on the cheek. "You're late.""I know, I'm sorry," I said, sitting down. "Work was crazy.""I'm sure it was," she said, her tone a little disapproving. "You're working too much, my dear. You need to learn to relax. Especially now that you're a married woman."I bristled at her comment. I knew she meant well, but I couldn't help but feel like she was criticizing me."I'm fine, Mom," I said, trying to keep my voice calm. "I enjoy my work.""I know you

B I A N C AThe car ride home was silent. Damian drove with his white knuckled grip on the steering wheel. He was staring straight ahead, the muscle in his jaw ticking. I wanted to say something, to break the suffocating silence, but I couldn't find the words. I was still angry, and I knew that anything I said would only make things worse. We pulled into the driveway and he killed the engine. He got out of the car and walked to the front door, not even bothering to wait for me.I followed him inside. He had ruined what was supposed to be a good day. I had a successful day at work. I came up with an amazing idea for my company, and I was excited about the potential partnership with Sterling Tech. But he had to go and ruin it with his jealousy and paranoia.I watched him as he stood in the living room, his back to me. He looked so tense and angry. I wanted to go to him, to wrap my arms around him and tell him that everything was going to be okay. But I couldn't. Not yet.I dropped my pu

B I A N C AThe next morning, I woke up to the smell of coffee and bacon. I opened my eyes and found Damian's side of the bed empty.I got up and went downstairs. He was in the kitchen, standing at the stove, shirtless and wearing a pair of sweatpants that hung low on his hips. He looked good."Morning," he said, turning to look at me. "I'm making breakfast.""I can see that," I said, walking up to him and wrapping my arms around his waist from behind. "It smells amazing.""I wanted to make it up to you," he said, covering my hands with his. "For last night.""You don't have to make it up to me," I said, resting my cheek against his back. "We were both at fault. I'm just glad we're okay.""We are," he said, turning around in my arms to face me. "More than okay."He leaned down and kissed me, making my toes curl. When he pulled away, I was breathless."Breakfast is almost ready," he said, a smirk playing on his lips. "Why don't you go set the table?""Okay," I said, reluctantly letting

B I A N C AA smile on my lips, I walked back to my office after saying my goodbyes and promising to update him on our progress. Things were starting out pretty well, and I was confident that the business venture would go ahead smoothly.I dialed Damian's number as I settled into my chair and waited for him to pick up."Bianca." His voice was deep and soothing."It's me," I replied, smiling."How did the meeting go?" His voice was eager, but there was an edge to it."It went great." I said happily. "We went over the numbers, the projections, the whole works."I told him the details and what had happened. I wanted him to be excited, wanted him to be proud of me, but instead, all I got in return were one word answers. It was getting under my skin, especially after our conversation."Do you want me to forward the agreement?""No."I pursed my lips together, wondering if there was more."Ok," I whispered, slowly leaning back in the chair. There was silence on both ends, a silence that was
