The room exploded into movement so quickly it barely felt real. One second Luca was holding my face in his hands, panic breaking through every wall he had ever built around himself, and the next Dr Reyes was rushing toward me while nurses flooded into the room behind her. Machines screamed around me. The sharp continuous sound dug violently into my skull as another tremor ripped through my body hard enough to force a cry from my throat. “Oh my God,” Dr Reyes breathed again, already reaching for me. “Natalie, can you hear me?” I tried to answer her. I really did. But my body no longer felt fully connected to me. Pain twisted through my stomach in brutal waves, sharp enough to blur my vision completely, and the room tilted sickeningly around me as my breathing became shallow and uneven. “Blood pressure is crashing,” one of the nurses said quickly. “No,” Luca’s voice broke somewhere beside me. “No, fix it.” “Sir, I need you to move back,” the nurse said. “I’m not leaving her,”
