*** Emma POV***“What the hell are you doing up there, Emma?” Susan’s voice roared from downstairs.I leaned over the toilet, breathing slowly until the nausea finally stopped. I rinsed my mouth, splashed water on my face, and quickly wiped my face.“I'm coming.” I yelled back. For the past few days my body had been somewhat strange and heavy. My lower back ached constantly, and I always felt tired no matter how much rest I took. I flushed the toilet, and went downstairs quickly. When I entered the dining room, Daniel was already sitting. He has an impatient look on his face, his briefcase was resting beside him, and his phone was in his hand.Susan, my mother in-law was sitting across from him, giving me her usual unimpressed look.“Emma,” she said sharply, “it’s early in the morning and you cannot even serve your husband breakfast before he leaves for work?”“I have already finished cooking,” I replied feeling annoyed that they couldn't notice how exhausted I looked.

***Emma's POV***Did I hear that right?"Who's getting a divorce?" I asked, unable to make sense of anything. Daniel's face quickly contoured in displeasure. "Don't act dumb, Emma. I know you understand what I mean." "But I really don't understand." I insisted. We stood there looking at each other for about 30 seconds before Daniel finally moved and gently placed Rachael on one of the waiting chairs. He then turned and faced me, looking all serious."Look, Emma, I know this is coming all of a sudden, and I'm sorry for telling you like this." he moved closer and placed his hand on my shoulder as if he was consoling me.I looked at his hand on my shoulder. This was the first time in forever since he had initiated a physical touch between us. Ironically, it was when he was asking me for a divorce."Why? Why are you doing this?" I asked, my throat tightened painfully. I thought about the child in my belly. I thought this would be a new beginning for us."Emma don't blame Daniel. I was

"What?" I nearly shouted. "How can you think that? I'm not in love with her." Even as the words left my mouth, an uncomfortable tightness squeezed my chest. "You better not be," Mom said, pulling me into a hug. "That girl has dragged you down long enough. It's time you start living again." I stood in the driveway long after her car disappeared. My mind was in chaos. I loved Emma when we were younger, She had been so fragile, pitiful and sweet. I swore to protect her even though it wasn't anything romantic. The love I had for her was the kind a brother would have for a sister. But clearly, she didn't see me as a brother and that was the reason she teamed up with my dad and forced me to marry her. The thought made my blood boil all over again. Slipping out my phone from my pocket, I dialed my lawyer's number. "Prepare the divorce papers." When I returned to the living room, Rachael was still on the couch, looking like a lost puppy. "What are you still doing down here?

***Emma's POV***I stared at my reflection in the mirror, my chest tightening with sadness. I looked pale and thinner, like someone battling from an illness. I think I should visit the hospital again to do a proper check up. I rubbed my belly and a bubble of happiness enveloped me. This baby brought new hope for me and a reason to be happy. A soft knock on the pulled out of my thoughts. "Ma'am, the young master is waiting." I took one last look at myself and stepped out. Daniel stood in the living room, dressed in a crisp white shirt and black trousers that accentuated his tall, muscular frame. On the couch beside him sat Rachael, she's wearing a red floral dress which happens to be the exact one I'm wearing except mine is white. The dress fits her so well, she looks hot and seductive unlike me, I look delicate and soft in mine. When I returned my gaze to Daniel, he's eyes were assessing me. A slight frown creased his forehead before he averted his gaze."Rach

***Daniel's POv***I ignored their confused faces and marched to the door. I thought I've escaped dad's controlling nature but apparently I've not. He always had that over me, the power to make me feel useless and not enough. What I don't understand is why he wants my marriage to hold. The more he insists on it the more I get suspicious that he has an ulterior motive. Hear me out, I know he loves Emma so much and cares about her happiness as a father would for a daughter, I know that. But going out of his way to make sure our marriage continues, nahh. That's not his thing. Dad doesn't do anything that wouldn't benefit him. If there's one thing I know about him, it's that he's a very selfish person. After all he's a business man. You can't imagine how shocked I was five years ago when he told me I'll be getting married to Emma. I had always thought my marriage would be a business marriage, the one that would benefit us. Then, he wasn't against my relationship with R
