We Didn't Know

Chapter 91Brenda’s POV I knew that Eva had told me that she was going to end me, but I hadn’t taken her seriously. She really couldn’t afford to come in here and start offing loyal pack members. The pack would turn on her, fearing that they were next on the chopping block. I had spent quite a bit of time going around and putting the rumors into certain people's ears. I knew that the entire pack had heard about her being weak by now. How she needed help to kill Shawna and her family. If she stepped in now to fight me, all was lost. As long as she doesn’t carry out my sentence, the rumor will stand. But if she fights, if they see her in action, they will all know I lied. Seeing my memories being played out, especially the ones of me taunting Eva with Shawna, was one thing. Getting Georgia riled up and sending her after Eva was on Georgia. She didn't even look into it. Georgia was always going off at the drop of a hat. That’s why I called her to help me out. But Georgia and her

Have Mercy on my Daughter

Chapter 92Eva’s POV I was tired of talking. Councilman West had just made everything clear, and I wanted to exercise my rights. I was sick of all the back-and-forth. They were just trying to stall. I knew that all they were trying to do was ruin my name in the pack. They wanted to make me look bad in front of Shadow Claw, as if I were some kind of heartless monster who just went around attacking innocent pack members. “Please, Luna, have mercy on Brenda. She was misled by Miranda. You might not know Miranda very well, but she’s very good at deceiving people. She cannot be trusted,” Brenda’s mother sobbed out, pleading for Brenda to be spared. “Miranda’s not the only one,” I answered with a sharp look at Brenda and Renee. "Knowing that she wasn't trustworthy, why would you let both your daughters be around her? Or do your daughters just enjoy getting to bully weaker pack members?" Their mother stopped crying, shocked by my words. I didn’t try to hide my disgust at their b

Take Me as Your Luna

Chapter 93Eva’s POV “Fifty-five minutes,” Alpha Gerald announced. “I thought you and your family were smarter than this, Steve. I’m actually embarrassed for you. My family and I stand behind and support Eva. She will be the pack's Luna. She is already protected by the same laws and bylaws that apply to her before she’s sworn in. I was being gracious by allowing you time to pack, instead of just kicking you and your family out. If you don’t want to accept the respect that I was giving you to leave with your belongings, just go ahead and leave. Either in your vehicle, or inside a body bag, but you will be leaving the Shadow Claw pack tonight.” I had to hold back my smile. Alpha Gerald wasn’t holding back anymore. He was furious that even after being told they were banished. Renee still had the audacity to keep trying to incite the pack against me. I doubt Renee, or Brenda, could be considered intelligent pack members. They sure didn’t seem to realize that banishment was clearly t

Don't Touch my Mate

Chapter 94Eva’s POV “Don’t touch my mate,” Meari ground out. Her voice was lower than mine, and the aura she released after she spoke made several of the nearby pack members stagger back from the pressure of it. She never did things like this, not without my permission, but I had to admit, seeing this bold little she-wolf touching our mate was pissing me off too. “Now, Renee,” Meari demanded. “Let him go now, or you will be dealing with me.” Elise stepped over and said, “If you want Renee, I’ll be happy to trade.” "I will deal with them both. You can watch their mother to make sure she doesn’t try to insert herself into the fight,” Meari answered her. We needed to end this farce; it's gone on for way too long. But I didn’t want the pack to accuse me of any wrongdoing after the fact. That was the only reason I allowed them to continue. I need the pack to see who they were, but I doubt the entire pack will be surprised by how this turned out. I can tell several of the

Let's do it Again

Chapter 95Easton’s POV Brenda and Renee were clearly mindlinking each other. They were probably trying to set up a strategy, which was smart. But I didn’t want Eva to get hurt. I noticed that the twins had moved around to stand behind Steve and Nancy. They were carefully watching their daughters circle the ring as they tried to find a weak spot to attack. They were so intent on watching Brenda and Renee that they hadn’t realized that the twins were close enough to stop them if they decided to get involved in the fight. With the twins covering them, I turned to watch Eva. I wanted to see my mate in action again. I'd been so surprised by Eva’s wolf earlier; she was all I could see. I hadn’t noticed just how efficient she was at fighting. Her wolf was beautiful, and I wanted to see her again. I hoped Eva might agree to take a run with me to see more of our pack land after the fight. There was a lake on the western side of the pack that I wanted to take her to see. I wanted t

I'm Reporting You

Chapter 96Eva’s POV “Let me go! You’re going to break my ankle, Eva, if you keep this up,” Renee sobbed out. “Why would I do that? Weren’t you fully intending to break mine?” I quietly asked. “Do you think I’m ignorant, Renee? You’ve tried to attack me from behind on two occasions now. Brenda was keeping me distracted so you could do it. Why would I just stand here and let you incapacitate me? Did you actually think I was just going to let you and your sister win, without putting up a fight?” I had her leg bent at an awkward angle, and I knew it hurt. My right thigh and calf held one leg securely in place at almost a ninety-degree angle. My other thigh pinned her other leg down. I had the leverage to control her now. She was using her hands to try to pull her leg free, but that was a complete waste of time, as it wasn’t going to happen. “Luna, let her go, please. Can’t you see she’s in pain?” their mother Nancy cried out. “Renee came after me, as did Brenda. The Counci

Spelled

Chapter 97Eva’s POV I walked back over to Renee and leaned down. “Don’t touch me! Haven’t you done enough to me already?” Renee cried out. “No, your sentence still stands. Originally, I was going to make this as painless as I could for you. But after hearing what you had to say, I’ve changed my mind,” I replied. “I wish we’d killed you when we had the chance, Eva. Our pack doesn’t deserve to have a Luna like you,” Renee hissed. “A Luna like me?” I stood up and acted like I was trying to figure out what she meant. “You might have come from a strong Alpha line, but you've lived your entire life being forced to live like a servant. Having to do the worst jobs in the pack. How can someone like you demand any respect? I know that I certainly don’t respect you. I don’t think anyone here does. They're just too scared to say it because they fear what the Alpha family and the High Council will do to them. Well, I’m not scared to say it, Eva. You are the lowest of the low. So

Exposed

Chapter 98Nancy’s POV It’s all over with. I just hope Renee doesn’t admit that I suggested this to her in the first place. Brenda would be heartbroken once she heard that. Things were already bad enough out here without that happening. I was hoping Eva would let her anger run its course and just let them go. I still wanted that to happen, but how could it when Eva seemed intent on destroying our family? “Please, you already know that I didn’t come out here to save Brenda,” Renee scoffed. “I couldn’t care less if you killed her right in front of me. She’s the one who deserves to die for involving our family in this. She has shamed our family. But it gave me a great excuse to come out here tonight. It made me look like I cared about her, but I came out tonight to make sure the pack knew just how worthless you'd be as our Luna. What's there to be scared of? You aren’t the Luna yet. I only wish I’d known that you had been named as Alpha, though; that’s what ended up costing me in t

Nancy Makes Three

Chapter 99Eva’s POV “My mother suggested it to me, but so what? She was absolutely right to suggest that one of our own pack members should step into the Luna position. Or do you think that you’re the only one who wants to be the Luna here? Don’t kid yourself, Eva. I can name ten she-wolves off the top of my head that are more qualified than you to lead a pack. You’ve got no experience, no friends, and no reason to be here except that the Moon Goddess made a mistake when she made you Easton's mate. Why shouldn’t we be given a chance to show what we can do? I know for a fact that I would be just as effective a Luna as you,” Renee insisted. “I refuse to accept anyone other than Eva. She is my mate. She is the one that I want, and you’re wrong. Eva is ready to lead a pack. She thinks things through before she acts. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be drawing a breath right now. I wanted to end you ten minutes ago. The fact that you and your mother here think that my opinion doesn’t matter

Brenda Meets Her End

Chapter 100Easton’s POV Nancy has absolutely gone too far. I knew she did it because Renee just admitted to it. I have no idea why Renee would be so forthcoming, but I was starting to suspect that she had been spelled. I’m now thinking that Eva is much more powerful than I ever thought she was. But I am content to wait until she trusts me enough to tell me that herself. Because I’ve never known Renee to say anything that would make her mother, or herself, look bad. I saw Steve double over in pain, and I guess Luna Kiara was already working on breaking their bond. I was sure I was correct when Nancy screamed out in pain before falling to her knees. She was hurting pretty badly; that much was evident. I saw the crowd parting, and Patrick pushing his way through the pack members. I guess Steve had him up to speed, because he went right to his father and then helped him walk out of the circle to their waiting car at the back of the group. They headed toward the gate less than tw
