What Did Eva Suffer?

Chapter 21Eva’s POV I was ready to meet my grandparents. I had all the information I needed about both of them. I was told that my grandfather was very excited to meet me. If my grandmother thought that I would just hide out in my room in fear of her, she had another thing coming. With each passing day, I got stronger in every single way. Meari was a physical presence, one that made my sight, hearing, and strength far better than they had ever been. Ashra was a spirit, no she was different than that. She was more of a guide to me. She didn’t speak to me as much as Meari did. But I knew that when she did speak, I needed to listen. She warned Meari and me when danger was present. She also could sense when someone was lying. Now that has been very helpful in navigating the pack. If I didn’t have her in my corner, I would have probably been killed by now. Not everything in this pack was as it seemed. There were some who believed that Earl should have been named Alpha. They were w

The Best Way to get Rid of Me

Chapter 22Eva’s POV I felt the fear rolling off of them in waves. Shane was scared, too, but he pretended he wasn't listening. He was trying to continue his conversation with his friend. But there was no way that I was going to let any of them wiggle out of this. I knew that my parents were too upset to speak, so I was going to do it for them. “I don’t want my parents to have to say the words, so I’ll do it for them. Something very serious happened at the Stone Fall pack. Mom and Dad aren’t talking about the emotional or physical abuse that I suffered while I was there. Mom’s spell ended up working a little too well on me. She could have lifted the spell if she knew where I was being held. I guess I have you to thank for that, Elaine. I’m sorry. I just can’t force myself to call you my Grandmother. You’ve never loved me, not from the moment I was born. It’s clear that Shane is the only grandchild you love, and not me. But it's okay, I can live with that,” I stated, looking direc

The Reveal

Chapter 23Elaine’s POV If I had known this was going to happen, I would never have come here. I would have let Earl and Freya deal with Eva on their own. I wouldn’t have been included in any of this. The disappointment that is radiating off of Abram is making my heart hurt. I can’t stand seeing him looking at me like that. “What’s so wrong with wanting my son to have his birthright? He deserved to be the Alpha here; he always has. Abram, you have always been too hard on him and way too easy on Reese. You’ve always been like that,” I argued. “Elaine, what you call easy on Reese was the fact that he didn’t fly off the handle every time he didn’t get his way. He didn’t act like a spoiled pup all the time. Reese always took training and the job seriously, unlike Earl. Reese knew what the job entailed, but he didn’t want to take the Alpha position from Earl. He felt terrible and told me he would help Earl until Earl could manage the pack on his own. I was the one who refused to al

Think Again

Chapter 24Reese’s POV It was too hard to watch my daughter die in front of my eyes again. So I pinned my gaze on my mother and Earl. They were the main culprits in what happened to Eva. If it’s the last thing I do, I’ll make sure that Eva is avenged. There was no way that I would let my daughter be murdered in cold blood and not return the favor to the people who put her in that pack. Earl looked terrified at watching it all play out. I have never seen him that frightened before. But Freya was absolutely horrified. “I do not agree to that. I was upset for my mate and took up for him because someone had to. But I didn’t sign up for anyone to be killed. I’m not a part of that. I wasn’t even told that Reese had spoken up for Earl. I was always told that Reese wanted to be Alpha and had taken the position away from Earl. No one mentioned what actually happened to me at all,” Freya cried out. “Just because you didn’t know everything doesn’t mean that you weren’t in the thick of it

A Clear Threat

Chapter 25Shane’s POV How the hell could she possibly know that? I heard the Demon behind her growl at me in warning, but I was too stunned to be scared. I glance at my mother, and she looks just as stunned as I am. I knew the rule. Never admit anything. As long as I can have some reasonable doubt. The pack won’t know which of us to believe. I've been here much longer than she has. I already know that they will be backing me. “I don’t know anything about what you're saying. You can’t just accuse me without some sort of proof, Eva. I know you can’t stand me, but I’ve done nothing to you,” I snapped back at her. “Yet,” Eva corrected. My heart stuttered at her word, but I pushed on. “Yet? What the hell are you talking about? You’re not even making sense.” I replied. I needed to twist this around to make her look unstable. I have to do something to make sure that no one here takes her word for anything. “The correct sentence was ‘I’ve done nothing to you, yet’, Shane. You'r

Fight Me for the Position

Chapter 26Earl’s POV My chest was still heaving from my outburst when I saw Reese smile. It wasn’t a friendly smile, and I could tell in that moment that he wanted to end me himself. He wasn’t going to allow me to hurt his little princess again. I thought Freya or Mom would have warned Shane, but apparently, we all forgot about him. He really wasn’t that bright. He gets that from his mother. I would have never allowed myself to be exposed like that. But it’s all over with for us. My only hope was to push my brother hard enough that he ended me, quickly. I knew he wouldn’t be able to kill Mom. He still loves her, even though she was the one who came up with the idea to take Eva in the first place. But I’m absolutely sure that Kiara, or Eva, wouldn’t have a problem with stepping in and ending Mom at all. “Eva, how about we fight for the position of Alpha?” Shane ground out. My head snapped over to him, shocked that he would even suggest such a thing. I don’t know what he was

It's Only Fair

Chapter 27Eva’s POV Elaine cried for almost twenty minutes. She went on and on for much longer than I thought she would. Pleading, making excuses, and blaming everyone for what happened, everyone but herself. I didn’t want to hear her speak anymore. “So, now you’re saying that Freya was the mastermind behind this? Do you think anyone here believes you? I’ve known you for less than three hours, and I’m fully aware that you run everything, even now. If you didn’t, why would you be the one giving the instructions to the Alpha at Stone Fall? I know the entire story, Elaine. I heard it from the Goddess herself, and my wolf, so you can stop wasting your breath. You paid Dominic to keep me hidden there all these years. You never wanted me to be able to come back home,” I told her. “That’s not true. It was just for a little while. Besides, I never told anyone to kill you,” Elaine corrected. “There are worse things than death, Elaine. Do not act like you didn’t want me to suffer, b

I'm Going to Kill Her

Chapter 28Shane’s POV Today was the day that everything was going to change for me. I got some tips from Dad last night, and he went over them with me again today. I was ready to earn my place in the Pack. This had taken way too long. I should have already been announced as the heir, but my Aunt and Uncle refused to give up hope that Eva would return. I hope that I’m never as pathetic as they’ve been, refusing to face facts. The entire pack has been talking about the fight all day. I heard rumors flying around all over the place, and I wanted to know what had happened. I knew it was something serious, but Dad had Mom lead me away before I could hear what they were talking about. Dad wouldn’t let me hear the gossip. I was sure it was about Eva, and I wanted to mock her with whatever it was after I beat her. I knew this was supposed to be a fight to submission. But if I had the chance, I'd make sure she was dealt with properly today. I wanted the pack to be passed on to me. If

He Overestimated Himself

Chapter 29Eva’s POV Shane actually seemed surprised to see me standing here in the ring. That was the moment before he started to growl at my parents and grandfather. I wasn’t about to let that disrespect stand. Shane would be learning right out of the gate just how wrong he was. “Your mother is next, Eva. I will kill her right after I finish you. How dare she put her hands on my grandmother?” Shane roared out. “Are you forgetful, Shane? Or just stupid? Didn’t we cover that last night? Or did you forget that she cost me almost 17 years with my parents? It’s a good thing that you're not going to be Alpha with a memory like that,” I replied. My expression was bored, as if I wasn’t worried about what he might do, because I wasn’t. He is a whiny brat who’s been handed everything he has. I wasn't even planning on overexerting myself. I didn’t want to be the Alpha here, but with it coming down between the two of us, I’m not going to just give him what he wants. If he wants to be

A Hard Truth Exposed

Chapter 30Eva’s POV “How dare you do that to my son?” Earl bellowed out. He was furious and clearly about to lose control. “You just insisted that what I went through was no big deal, Earl. That I was alive, so I should let go of past grievances. Why is it different when it’s your own child meeting the same fate?” I asked. “Is it because he doesn’t deserve a second chance? Isn’t that your fault? He became the person he was, a big bully, because you and your wife never gave him any boundaries. You two spoiled Shane, along with his grandmother, so much so that he thought he deserved everything handed to him, whether he earned it or not.” “I’m going to kill you, you fucking bitch,” Earl shrieked, and he lunged towards me. He looked like a madman. Shane’s blood coated his chest, and arm’s as he swung at me repeatedly. He had no focus; he was just striking out in anger. I’m sure he was probably in mild shock at losing his son. I just stepped out of his grasp each time, evading
