I had barely slammed the door behind me when Mabel’s voice cracked through my phone. She had that overly dramatic tone, as if the world were moments from falling apart. “Liliana, just come back! Pop a pill, drink some orange juice, I don’t care, get your butt over here. This night is tragic without you.”I could imagine the helpless expression she had on and I forced a hollow smile. Letting out a tired sigh, I dropped my multiple bags to the floor, tugging my hair out of the messy bun. "Bel, we both know I can’t be there. You want me to be the mysterious guest who infects everyone?” Before she could protest, I let out a loud strained cough. LILIANA'S POV “Who are you talking to?” Taryn's voice came from behind me and my wolf whimpered in fear while I turned, trying to look as calm as possible. "It was Mabel checking on me. LILIANA'S POVI couldn't remember how long I sat at the foot of what was once my home waiting for Taryn. My eyes stung from how long I have been crying and I might dozed off along the line. STUCK IN MUD

LILIANA'S POV My shoulders stiffened at the sound of his voice and I stayed still hoping that he would just walk by. Maybe he'd thought I was some sort of statue. The idea sounded dumb the moment my brain processed it and I let out a small breath turning slowly, like a criminal caught red handed. Darian stood at the doorway with his regular bored slash-intimating look. If he wasn't so scary he would have been a complete ladies man. His black hair which was normally styled fell flat covering most of his forehead and eyebrows. Unlike Taryn, he had a larger, taller and more masculine physique probably from all the training he put himself through. But what always stood out to me was the pair of striking grey eyes. LILIANA'S POV I turned around so quickly that I almost slipped on the polished floor, whispering, "Oh my God." As soon as my gaze returned to him, my face began to burn. Drops of water trickled down his chest slowly, and his dark hair appeared damp with strands falling over his forehead. My heart pounding frantically against my ribs, I instantly turned around again. In a panic, I blurted out, "I swear this isn't what it looks like." His deep voice finally filled the room after a brief period of silence. He asked icily, "You broke into my room to stare at me half naked?" My eyes got bigger. "What? No! At last, he said, "You could have asked one of the maids for help." "There was only one maid I saw, and she disappeared before I could say anything." My eyes widened slightly as he let out a low sound that sounded almost like a laugh. LILIAN'S POV My body lost all strength the instant the front door closed behind Taryn. Before I could further disgrace myself by falling face first on Darian's costly floor, my knees gave way a little, and I grabbed the barrier next to me.Regretfully, he was still aware."You need to take a seat," Darian said coolly."I'm alright."I was immediately betrayed by my trembling voice.After giving me a long look, Darian moved to the couch by the fireplace.
