AN UNFORTUNATE SITUATION

LILIANA'S POV

I turned around so quickly that I almost slipped on the polished floor, whispering, "Oh my God." As soon as my gaze returned to him, my face began to burn. A few paces away, Darian had a towel draped loosely around his waist and a smaller one around his neck. Drops of water trickled down his chest slowly, and his dark hair appeared damp with strands falling over his forehead.

My heart pounding frantically against my ribs, I instantly turned around again.

In a panic, I blurted out, "I swear this isn't what it looks like."

His deep voice finally filled the room after a brief period of silence.

He asked icily, "You broke into my room to stare at me half naked?"

My eyes got bigger. "What? No!

At last, he said, "You could have asked one of the maids for help."

"There was only one maid I saw, and she disappeared before I could say anything."

My eyes widened slightly as he let out a low sound that sounded almost like a laugh. Darian had never said anything funny to me.

I tightly wrapped my arms around myself, still avoiding his gaze. "I was looking for my room."

"After midnight, the doors automatically lock," he said coolly. "For safety."

I frowned a little. "That clarifies why the door refused to open."

At last, Darian approached the couch by the big window, picked up a black shirt, and pulled it over his head. I felt a little more at ease after that.

A tiny bit.

He suddenly said, "You can sleep here tonight."

I blinked in surprise before taking the chance to look at him. "What?"

"It's obvious that you're too quick to explore this house by yourself once more."

"I'm not quick."

He slowly raised an eyebrow.

Alright, perhaps I was quick.

Calmly, he continued, "I'll sleep on the couch."

I almost scoffed as I turned to face the couch. It appeared to be larger than my previous bed at home.

at home.

The word hurt more than I had expected.

Flashes of tonight pushed their way back into my mind, causing my chest to tighten painfully. Taryn. Emily. The humiliation. The guards won't let me enter my own home.

I quickly lowered my eyes in an attempt to stop crying.

When I remained silent, Darian said, "You can take the bed."

"No," I shouted out. "Definitely not."

"You're hurt."

"It's also your room."

He said coldly, "I own the entire house."

I shook my head after giving him a long look. "That's not the point."

He sighed quietly, as if I were causing him anxiety. "Just go to sleep, Liliana."

I felt a strange sensation in my chest when he said my name.

Darian took a blanket off one of the shelves while I sat slowly on the edge of the bed. Although it wasn't particularly uncomfortable, the silence between us wasn't either.

I muttered, "You don't have to do all this for me.”

After a moment of hesitation, Darian resumed his work. "My car hit you."

"That hardly qualifies as an explanation."

"It affects me."

After that, I silently stared at him, not sure what to say.

Darian was described by the whole pack as a terrifying monster. ruthless. cruel. heartless. Even Taryn used to caution me against upsetting him.

He was giving me his bed, though.

I froze in horror as my stomach growled loudly.

Darian turned to face me slowly.

I wanted to be completely engulfed by the floor.

He remarked, "You said you already ate."

"I did," I muttered feebly.

"That sound indicates otherwise.”

He moved toward the door and left the room before I could stop him. I sat there clutching one of the pillows awkwardly, trying to understand how my life had somehow come to this point.

I had a husband less than twenty-four hours ago. a home. stability.

I had unintentionally caught my ex-husband half-naked and was now hiding in his brother's room.

Officially, my life was a farce.

After a short while, Darian came back with a tray of food. My stomach began to painfully tighten at the smell.

I thought, "There's no way you cooked this yourself."

His mouth quirked slightly on one side. "I didn't.”

I was totally taken aback by that tiny almost-smile.

I carefully took the tray from him, being careful not to let our fingers come into contact. "I'm grateful."

He nodded slightly and took a seat on the couch across from the bed.

I took a moment to look at the tray before biting into the bread. I became acutely aware of how hungry I was as soon as the food touched my stomach.

While I was eating, Darian was silent, but I could occasionally feel his gaze on me.

He abruptly said, "You keep staring."

The bread in my mouth almost caused me to choke. "I'm not!"

"You are."

My face instantly became hot. "I'm just eating, really.”

"Since you entered this room, you have been staring at me."

"I accidentally entered this room!"

For once, he appeared oddly at ease as he leaned slightly against the couch. "Yes."

I squinted at him and took another bite to keep from saying anything more. Regretfully, I ate too quickly and began coughing almost right away.

With a quiet sigh, Darian got up and came over to me carrying a glass of water.

He whispered, "You eat like someone is trying to steal it from you."

I coughed, "No one is stealing my food."

"Obviously."

As he handed me the glass, his fingers briefly touched mine, and my body tensed up. Even though the contact was brief—just one second—it felt oddly intense.

After drinking the water, I swiftly withdrew my hand. To be honest, I was more concerned about my wolf's complete silence than anything else.

Darian's eyes narrowed slightly, as if he sensed the sudden tension as well.

A knock abruptly reverberated throughout the room before either of us could respond.

Darian's face instantly became icy once more.

He asked sharply, "Who is it?"

From outside the door, one of the guards responded. "Your brother is here, sir."

In an instant, all of my relief vanished.

Painfully, my stomach twisted.

"What?" I muttered.

Suddenly the room seemed too small, and Darian turned slowly toward the door.

The guard nervously went on, "He says he wants to see his wife."

"No," I replied right away. Inform him that I'm asleep. Inform him that I'm not present. I'm not concerned.

For a moment, Darian's gray eyes moved in my direction before turning back to the door.

He stated icily, "She isn't seeing anyone tonight."

Then there was silence.

The guard then spoke once more.

"He won't go.”

  • the alpha who chose the broken luna    THE MAN WHO IS SUPPOSED TO DIE

LILIAN'S POV Marcus Vale waited beneath the Eternal Rose as if he had anticipated our arrival the entire time. The dim glow caught the silver band on his finger, verifying what had already been depicted in the photograph. Standing before us was the former Beta, thought to have perished years prior. Now, he appeared older and more unfeeling, his faint smile twisting my stomach into knots. Darian instinctively stepped in front of me. "Marcus." The man’s smile broadened. "Alpha Darian." "You were deemed dead." "True." He cast a side glance at Taryn. "At least, that’s what those wanting me gone reported." With eyes wide, Taryn exclaimed, "You were present." Marcus turned his gaze to him. "Of course I was." The tension in Taryn's face grew tighter. "I recall you." "You should." Marcus began to ascend the stairs. "Though merely a child, you held onto more than we anticipated." Adrian shifted closer, murmuring, "Stay behind me." Marcus chuckled softly. "Still playing the protector." Adri

  • the alpha who chose the broken luna    THE ROSE REMEMBERS

LILIAN'S POV We arrived back at Blood Veil just before dawn. For the majority of the journey, there was a heavy silence, not due to a lack of inquiries, but rather because there were far too many unasked. Though we had crossed the northern border, threats still lingered, perhaps even more palpable now. Sitting next to Darian in the carriage, I looked out at the familiar trees drifting by outside. Only a few months prior, the thought of returning to Blood Veil would have filled me with apprehension. This was the place where I had faced public rejection, lost all my belongings, and been cast out onto the streets. Now, I returned with a letter from my father pressed close to my chest, a pendant belonging to my mother hanging around my neck, and a brother I had only just learned existed a few hours ago. I was no longer the same woman who had departed. Darian noticed my contemplative silence. “You’re thinking about Taryn.” I turned to him. “I’m reflecting on the woman I once was.” His

My hands shook as I extended them toward the letter. I recognized that handwriting. I had seen it among the limited documents my family preserved after my parents passed away, but encountering it now felt distinct. This was not an old note or a family archive. My father crafted these words with the awareness that one day I might come across them, anticipating that I could finally learn the truth about my family. Darian was standing next to me, observing closely yet choosing not to intervene. I broke the seal. As the paper opened, a soft crackling sound emerged, revealing my father's recognizable handwriting on the page. My dear Liliana, if you are reading this, then the unthinkable has occurred. My sight blurred instantly. I can only guess how old you will be when you stumble upon this letter. I cannot say whether I will still be alive. However, I must convey one crucial message before you accept anyone's interpretation of our narrative. Your mother and I never left you behind. A t

  • the alpha who chose the broken luna    THE FOUNDERS SECRET

LILIAN'S POV William’s voice resonated throughout the room, composed and nearly soothing in spite of the armed wolves flanking him. My gaze fell on the dark book lying upon the stone surface. The rose that was engraved on its front appeared to vibrate slightly under the soft crimson glow emanating from the blood seal. For twenty-one years, I had received fragments of my parents' narrative. They had perished during an attack by rogue wolves. They were simply unfortunate. There was nothing that could have been done. Those were the phrases I had repeatedly heard throughout my upbringing. Yet each discovery we made dismantled another section of that narrative. My father had anticipated the threat ahead. My mother had withstood the onslaught. Adrian had been abducted. The Grey Wardens were pursued. William had orchestrated everything from behind the scenes. And now this book was said to hold the reason for my mother’s demise. I turned my attention to William. "You want me to open this

  • the alpha who chose the broken luna    THE BLOOD SEAL

LILIAN'S POV The words were completely incomprehensible. "What do you mean, our lineage isn't what everyone thought?" I inquired. Taryn’s eyes turned to Darian for a moment before settling back on me. "I’m not privy to the full story. William concealed much of it, even from the council. However, your mother uncovered something in the original documents." Adrian moved closer. "What did she find?" Taryn paused. "The first Alpha of Blood Veil was not merely an ordinary werewolf." Gabriel's face shifted instantly. "Be cautious." Taryn disregarded him. "He possessed a rare bloodline, one that vanished ages ago." My wolf stirred uneasily within me. A peculiar tightness gripped my chest, as if a part of me acknowledged the statement before my mind could grasp it. Darian recognized my reaction. "What bloodline?" Taryn shook his head. "That's the part I never found out." Adrian's fists tightened. "Then why are you wasting our time?" "Because William knows." Taryn's tone turned urgent.

  • the alpha who chose the broken luna     THE PRICE OF THE TRUTH

LILIAN'S POV The pendant radiated an unusual warmth against my hand. I gazed at the delicate silver rose, my eyes welling with unshed tears. This was something my mother had held, perhaps pressed to her heart. Maybe she wore it on the night that everything changed for us. The notion brought a tightness to my chest. "What was her name?" my brother quietly inquired. I shot him a puzzled look. "What did you say?" "Your mother." "Rose." His expression softened. "Rose." He spoke the name as if savoring a long-buried memory he had feared would fade. "It's been years since I last spoke her name aloud." I swallowed hard. "Do you remember her?" "Every single day." His voice trembled just a bit. "When cooking, she often sang." "She couldn’t stand storms." "And every night, she counted my fingers as I drifted off, convinced I might lose one." A broken chuckle escaped through my tears. "She did the same for me." He looked directly at me. "You recall?"

LILIANA'S POV My shoulders stiffened at the sound of his voice and I stayed still hoping that he would just walk by. Maybe he'd thought I was some sort of statue. The idea sounded dumb the moment my brain processed it and I let out a small breath turning slowly, like a criminal caught red hande

LILIANA'S POVI couldn't remember how long I sat at the foot of what was once my home waiting for Taryn. My eyes stung from how long I have been crying and I might dozed off along the line. LILIANA'S POV “Who are you talking to?” Taryn's voice came from behind me and my wolf whimpered in fear while I turned, trying to look as calm as possible. "It was Mabel checking on me. You know how she is," I said with the biggest grin stepping closer to him. I could tell he had not bought

  • the alpha who chose the broken luna    LILIAN'S POV

I had barely slammed the door behind me when Mabel’s voice cracked through my phone. She had that overly dramatic tone, as if the world were moments from falling apart. “Liliana, just come back!
