Chapter 21: You actually came

The room was dark. Not completely dark, just enough for the shadows to swallow everything except the faint rays of sunlight struggling through the curtains.Pat lay curled beneath the duvet. His face was pale. His breathing was uneven.Every few minutes, a violent cough tore through his chest, leaving his body trembling afterward. His fever had gotten worse.Much worse. The heat burning beneath his skin made him ache all over, while the chills beneath the blanket refused to leave him alone. He felt miserable.Hot.Cold.Heavy.Even lifting a finger felt exhausting.Things were getting out of hand.Yet he was too weak to do anything about it.Pat slowly turned onto his side.A painful groan escaped his lips as he reached for his phone from the bedside table. His fingers trembled. His vision blurred. The screen illuminated his pale face.Without thinking, he opened his contacts.Tee.His thumb hovered over the name.Almost immediately, images of Tee flashed through his mind.Tee forcing

Chapter 22: Let me in, Pat

Back in the present, Yut exhaled slowly. The apple remained untouched. His eyes returned to Pat.The sleeping man looked younger somehow.Less guarded.Less defensive.Less angry at the world.Yut carefully placed the knife down. Then moved closer. For a long moment, he simply sat there.Watching.Thinking.Feeling.Eventually, he reached out.His fingers lightly brushed against Pat's cheek.Warm.Soft.Real.His hand lingered. Then gently slid into Pat's.Holding it between both of his own.Carefully.Protectively.As though afraid he might break.Yut lowered his eyes."Let me in, Pat."His voice was barely above a whisper."I promise to take care of you."The words disappeared into the quiet room. Then suddenly,The door burst open."Tee!"Yut immediately stood.Tee rushed inside. His expression fell the moment he saw the hospital bed.The IV line. The monitor. The sleeping figure."Pat... Pat."His voice cracked slightly. He hurried to the bedside and touched Pat's forehead.Relief

Chapter 23: Did you force him?

By the time they reached Pat's condominium, it was already past midnight.Yut tried helping him out of the car."I'm fine now."Pat insisted.Yut still hovered beside him."I know."He smiled."But let me worry."Back upstairs, Pat headed straight toward the couch.Yut suddenly spoke."Can I use your kitchen?"Pat blinked."Huh?""You need food before taking medicine."Twenty minutes later,The aroma of Thai herbal soup filled the entire condominium.Yut had somehow managed to turn instant noodles and the ingredients inside Pat's refrigerator into something warm and delicious. He placed the bowl before Pat proudly."Ta-da."Pat stared."It smells good.""It tastes better."Yut sat opposite him."Can I eat from it too?"Pat laughed."Shameless.""I'm hungry too."Pat smiled unconsciously. It was the first genuine smile Yut had seen all day.And he almost smiled like an idiot in return. After dinner, Yut handed him his medication and watched until Pat swallowed every pill.Only then did

Chapter 24: That same person from last time

The lounge was quieter than it had been a few nights ago.Not because there were fewer people. If anything, the place was alive with soft conversations, clinking glasses, laughter, and the mellow rhythm of live jazz drifting through the dimly lit room. But tonight, Tee felt quieter.Less broken. Not healed.Just... less broken. He sat alone at the far end of the bar counter, dressed casually in a black shirt with the sleeves rolled to his forearms and dark jeans. A half-finished shot glass rested between his fingers as he stared absentmindedly at the amber liquid inside. The bartender placed another shot in front of him.Tee nodded his thanks before downing it smoothly. The burn traveled down his throat. It was familiar now.Comforting in the worst possible way.Around him, life continued.A couple at a nearby table shared a dessert, feeding each other while laughing over something only they understood.Another pair sat shoulder-to-shoulder in a booth, fingers intertwined beneath the

Chapter 25: He's not my man. Fuck you.

The office buzzed with its usual energy.Phones rang intermittently.Keyboards clicked in steady rhythms.Project boards filled with schedules, deadlines, venue layouts, and client notes covered one side of the room.As one of Bangkok's most reputable event planning companies, busy days were normal.Today was no exception. At the conference area near the glass wall, Pat sat across from a young engaged couple.A wedding portfolio lay open on the table between them.Pat listened attentively as the bride excitedly described her dream ceremony while her fiancé occasionally added details about the reception.Unlike a few months ago, Pat wasn't merely listening. He was present.Engaged.Warm.Every suggestion he made was thoughtful.Every concern raised by the couple was met with a practical solution.By the end of the discussion, the bride's eyes were practically sparkling."Oh my God, this is exactly what I wanted."Her fiancé nodded in agreement."We've met with three event companies al

Chapter 26: I almost forgot you were coming

Pat practically rushed into his condominium the moment he got home from work. The door had barely clicked shut behind him before he was already rolling up his sleeves. The living room. The kitchen. The dining counter.Even the decorative shelves that he normally ignored.Everything suddenly looked messy.Or perhaps,Pat was simply nervous. He grabbed a cleaning cloth and started wiping every surface he could find. The cushions on the couch were rearranged three separate times. The magazines on the coffee table were stacked neatly. Then restacked. Then rearranged again. The kitchen counters were cleaned spotless. The refrigerator door was polished. The sink was scrubbed until it gleamed beneath the warm lighting.By the time he finally stepped back to admire the result, the entire condominium looked like a showroom unit.Perfect.Neat.Welcoming.Pat folded his arms and nodded in satisfaction. Then immediately spotted a cushion sitting slightly crooked."Tch."He fixed it.Only then di

Chapter 27: I wanted you

Yut guided his hand beneath the running water.Washing away the soap. Then grabbed a hand towel. And carefully dried Pat's hand. The gesture was ridiculously simple.Yet somehow,Pat's heart reacted far more than it should have.Fortunately Yut remained focused on the dishes.Unaware.Pat quietly leaned against the kitchen counter.Watching him wash.Watching him move.Watching him take care of things. For the first time in a very long while,The sight felt comforting.Safe."How's work going?"Yut asked while rinsing a plate.Pat smiled faintly."Well."He crossed his arms."It's actually going well."Yut looked over his shoulder. His eyes softened."I'm glad."And for some reason,Pat found himself smiling even more. For several seconds, neither of them spoke. The kitchen had suddenly become too quiet. The soft hum of the refrigerator filled the space, accompanied by the faint sound of traffic filtering through the windows. Yut rinsed the last plate and placed it neatly beside the

Chapter 28: I screwed it up

Early morning light slipped through the curtains, casting a pale glow across Pat's living room.Pat was crouched on the floor beside the couch, his back resting awkwardly against the cushions.A low groan escaped him as he tried to change position.Pain shot through his shoulder. Then his back. Then his waist.“Argh…”He squeezed his eyes shut and slowly pushed himself upright, using the couch for support. One hand remained pressed against his aching shoulder while the other braced against his waist. Now that the morning light had reached him, the evidence of the night was impossible to hide.Dark circles surrounded his tired eyes. His hair was completely disheveled. His face looked pale and worn. And he was still wearing the same pajamas he'd put on the night before—after spending far too much time deciding what to wear for Yut.That version of Pat already felt like someone else entirely. He slowly looked around the apartment. The living room. The dining table. The kitchen. Then his

Chapter 29: Were you bored not having me with you here?

Evening settled over the city, painting the windows of Yut's loft apartment with the last traces of daylight.Still dressed in his office clothes, Yut stood in the dining area with an apron tied securely around his waist. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled neatly to his elbows as he made the final adjustments to the dinner table.Everything had been prepared with intention. Two elegant place settings sat opposite each other, each arranged with polished utensils and two elegant white wine glasses. In the center of the table were several eye catching Thai homemade delicacies, Thai green curry with chicken, Pad Thai Goong, Jasmine rice, carefully molded into two small domes, A light Thai cucumber salad, Mango sticky rice for dessert. Their colors and presentation making the meal look almost too beautiful to disturb. Finally the candlelight.Yut adjusted almost everything on the table Looked at it again.Yut is nervous and wants tonight to go well.Only when everything looked exactly

Chapter 30: He isn't here tonight

Pat blinked slowly, still struggling to pull himself completely out of sleep. There was a faint teasing note in Yut’s voice, but his eyes remained attentive, watching Pat carefully.Pat stared at him for another second. Then he realized how close Yut was.Too close. His heart gave an embarrassing little jump.“I wasn’t bored,” Pat murmured.Yut raised an eyebrow.“Really?”Pat quickly glanced toward the television.“I was just tired.”“Mm.”Yut straightened, deliberately giving him some space.Pat immediately sat upright and rubbed his eyes.“How long was I asleep?”“Not very long.”Yut picked up the wine bottle from the table.“Maybe twenty minutes.”Pat glanced at the empty wine glass in Yut’s hand.“I didn’t finish that?““You were holding it like you were protecting it.”Pat looked down at his hand.“Oh.”A small, embarrassed smile tugged at his lips.Yut noticed. But this time, he said nothing. He simply placed the glass on the table. That restraint made Pat's smile slowly fade.
