Adrian folded the contract again and slipped it back into his pocket. The driver stopped at the entrance. As Adrian stepped out into the cool night air, one question lingered, sharp and unanswered. When Lia’s mother and father reached home late that night, Lia was already waiting for them at the door. She stood there, shifting from one foot to the other, so eager to meet them.
