Chapter 11- Good Samaritan

Chapter 11- The Good SamaritanAURELIA POVYsara; because I had finally gathered enough courage to ask for her name, was a literal sweetheart. I didn’t understand how someone who looked both ethereal and intimidating at first glance could be so warm. She bathed my wounds and dressed them with the gentleness of a new mother handling her newborn pup. Always careful and patient, never complaining even when I accidentally hissed or flinched from the pain. And good Godddess, the woman could talk! Somehow she always rambled half the time and still made it entertaining. Her humor was otherworldly absurd, unhinged in a way that constantly caught me off guard. One second she would complain how hard it was to get the herbs to make ointments for my injuries, the next she casually tells me how she was strong enough to turn someone into a toad. And yes, she has done it before because someone's already slimy enough to be a toad’. Multiple times. Most of the time, I just couldn’t tell if she was j

Chapter 12- Ethereal Chaos and Revelations

Chapter 12- Ethereal Chaos and RevelationsMALRIK POVI was woken up by the sound of rapid pounding on my bedroom door. I groaned, peeling the covers open and skating to the door. I yanked it open and stared at our head of security, Derek. “Whatever it is, couldn’t it have waited until I was up?” I was cranky, my mind still clouded from the dream slash nightmare I had where the moon yawned and had literal pearly white teeth. And I couldn’t be woken up this early. “I wish it could wait. But the Wicked Witch of the West hates waiting.” My eyes bulged at his words, and panic settled inside my chest. Shit!YEAH SHIT. My beast groaned inside of me, practically rolling his eyes at me. I clearly didn’t think the entire ‘Dump our mate at the front porch of our best friend witch’ thoroughly. Because of all things I thought would happen, none of them included Ysara showing up on our front door before I came clean to my brother. “Take her to the tea room. I will be there in a few.” I info

Chapter 13- Broken

Chapter 13- BrokenAURELIA POVYsara returned with a month's supply of meat. I don’t know whether she won the lottery or robbed a bank, but it had to cost her a fortune. Guilt washed over me as I sat in her living room, listening to her rambling about the fairy godmother who gave her money to be able to afford to feed me and clothe me. And yes, she bought me clothes. Some comfortable sweats and hoodies that were so warm and fit me so well I wondered where the hell she had been hiding all my life. Honestly, I was starting to like Ysara like she was my own sister. Considering that mine stabbed me right in the back and watched as my whole world was torn from me.“I want to fatten you up. I want you to be able to shoulder what’s coming next.” She announced walking towards me and dropping a bowl on the wooden dining table, then took a seat on the other side, and watched me eyeing the scrumptious ribeye in front of me.My mouth literally salivated. I took a moment looking at it before b

Chapter 14- Silver Rain, Vanilla & Cotton Candy

Chapter 14- Silver Rain, Vanilla, and Cotton CandyAZRAEL POVGoddess. She was so beautiful. Not the kind of beauty poets wrote about in soft, little, love songs. No. My mate was the kind of beauty that made wars start. The kind that made monsters kneel. It fucking made sense. How Malrik’s beast was so tamed and pliant during a full moon. How he had raged and broken chains to reach her. It all made sense now. I rubbed at the sudden ache that bloomed in my chest as we stood on the massive boulder overlooking the meadow, hidden carefully beneath the shadows of the trees. Her scent wrapped around me in slow waves, filling my lungs with something dangerously addictive. It was pure. It was redeeming. A mixture of something otherworldly like silver rain, vanilla, and cotton candy. She smelled so divine. Like everything was all right under the sun. Like peace after a century of bloodshed. She smelled like… home.Below us, Aurelia stood in the clearing, her eyes roaming across the open l

Chapter 15- In The Arms of The Monster

Chapter 15- In The Arms of The MonsterAURELIA POVThe cold bit into my skin like sharp needles in the early morning. It clung onto me, seeping into my bones and settling somewhere deep where the ache still burned hot and hollow. Ysara was still asleep when I slipped out. I guess she was? You could never really tell with her. Especially after the shit-show that went down yesterday where she tossed me around like I was paper-thin. Humiliated me over and over again until I broke down. Only to cradle me to her chest and rock me softly wth comforting words.Yeah. Damn confusing witch. The path to the mountain seemed to stretch longer and longer. It was quieter than it was yesterday. With only the sound of my trainers crunching the dirt underneath. By the time I reached the clearing, I was a panting mess of dripping sweat, burning lungs, and trembling legs. I welcomed it like I did the humiliation from yesterday. The pain in my lungs was like the air was made of hot razors, and the exh

Chapter 16- The Delirium

Chapter 16MALRIK POVThe front doors hadn’t even fully shut when I felt it. The patches of my skin rippled with fur as the scent hit me like a blow in the chest. I stopped mid-step, watching as my twin waltzed through the front doors with a shit-eating grin. My fingers tightened against the iron railing, my brows watching him as he stepped fully into the house.MINE. A deep growl escaped my lips, causing Azrael to halt mid-step, his eyes finding me where I was stuck, mid-step with one foot dangling in the air. My beast was restless, pouncing against the barrier that separated human and beast, too close to coming loose. Too possessive to think of the consequences. But damn was it strong. Sweet. Familiar. Fucking homey.“Why do you smell like our mate?” I asked walking down the remaining stairs. I sniffed the air and yahp. He definitely smelled like her. Vanilla, cotton candy, and silver rain. Azrael didn’t answer immediately. Of course, he didn’t. And that was answer enough. A s

Chapter 17- Rising From The Ashes

Chapter 17- Rising From The AshesAURELIA POVThe cabin smelled like bacon and peace. It felt warm. Safe. It felt like home. I stood by the small stove, flipping the last wrap in the pan as it sizzled, the sound oddly comforting. Early noon sun spilled through the window, brushing my skin like a gentle reminder that I was still here. Still breathing. Still… alive. And for the first time, it felt okay.I hummed softly as I worked on the wrap, flipping it to the other side so that it turned colour. “I swear if you burn my kitchen down, I am kicking you out.” I chuckled at Ysara, reaching for the plate and placing the second wrap.“You love me too much to do that,” I responded without turning back to look at her. “Debatable.” The sound of the chair scraping filled the space, and I spun around with two plates in my hand before placing one in front of her. I sat down. “A quick snack before we climb the mountain,” I said chomping down on mine. My eyes briefly fell shut as I flavours

Chapter 18- The Cost of the Bond

Chapter 18- The Cost of the BondAZRAEL POVThe doors did not open, they slammed.A violent gust of wind tore through the entire castle, rattling chandeliers and sending guards stumbling back as the heavy oak double doors burst inward like they weighed nothing. Well, that could mean one thing. “I wonder who pissed her off this early,” I muttered under my breath, not bothering to look up from my computer. As the king of the biggest lycan kingdom on earth, I had duties to uphold, people to feed. Well, beasts to feed.I couldn’t wait around for the wicked witch of the west to-“What the hell is wrong with you two?” Ysara’s angry voice sliced through the room like a blade. Her anger was palpable, forcing me to look up from my computer and stare at her angry little form. She was such a tiny, yet feisty thing. “You are going to have to be a little more specific than that,” Malrik commented from where he was sprawled with a newspaper covering his entire face. Even in the days of modern

Chapter 19- Stranger Danger

Chapter 19- Stranger DangerAURELIA POVI was halfway wiping the kitchen counter when the door creaked open. I looked up just in time as Ysara waltzed in, stopped near the doorway cabinet, and swiped her finger across the top. “You missed a spot.” She brought her finger to her face before blowing off some imaginary dust on it. I straightened up. “I literally just finished wiping that.” I countered, offended. “Hmmn.” She looked at the cabinet top again and shook her head. “And yet there it is. A streak.” With a huff, I walked to where she stood, leaned down to check the spot she was talking about. There was nothing. The entire top was sparkling, smelling like orange and citrus.I groaned and then hit her with the cloth, causing her to burst out laughing as she ducked. “You…” I was lost for words. I just watched her as she kicked the door closed and walked further into the house, then spun around and looked at me. “Stop cursing me in your mind.” I huffed. Defeated. There was no w

Chapter 20- Duties & Temptations

Chapter 20- Duties and TemptationsMALRIK POVMy blood was boiling in my veins. My beast was inches away from losing control. I stood there, claws digging into the palms of my hand as I watched her being whisked away from me like I was a passing inconvenience. I shouldn’t have gone closer. I should have maintained my distance. Like I did all along from the very moment they left the territory. I should have stayed in the shadows. But Goddess, it was so hard. OURS!My beast snarled, a deep growl threatening to rip out of me. I swallowed on it. Not now. Not here.
