{ Nicholas POV} I didn't know if it was instinct, Kyle, or just me, but I ran here as soon as I could to catch her from hitting her delicate skin against the hard tile. “I got you.” weře the words that left my lips the moment I gripped her waist with my hands. She was so frightened, she held my neck like her life depended on it, her eyes closed tight, chest heaving. That bastard had flung her with such force that shouldn't be used on a woman. Not just any woman—my mate. My anger was blazing hot. Kyle was going wild inside me. I had to force him to stay calm; going feral won't help right now. The crowd stood in awe, their brains probably trying to process how to react to the situation in front of them. Slowly her breathing became steady, her beautiful eyes fluttered open—meeting her gaze calmed Kyle instantly. Her expression was quite unreadable—shock mixed with something that looked like relief, like she was glad I came to save her.“Nicholas,” she muttered, slowly losing her g

[Elena's POV]My pulse quickened. I didn't need to think twice to know who sent the letter. Nicholas Hale, my handsome stalker. What hat does he want now? “You should go.” Lia muttered. “Of course you would say I should go.” I rolled my eyes at her, and she huffed. I looked outside the window to see if there was any trace of someone lurking in the shadows just in case Mr. N followed us back home today, but there was nothing; everything seemed okay. I heaved a breath and closed my window shut and threw the note into my drawer, then headed for the bathroom. I had showered for thirty minutes straight; the warm water felt so good on my skin I didn't feel like getting out. My head felt a lot lighter now, at least now I could think straight and feel the slight sting in my palm from where the glass had pierced. It should be fine before dawn. I quickly changed into my nightgown and headed for the door. I need to speak with Ambrose. The sound of my footsteps echoed through the hallway

{ Nicholas POV } I stepped aside, and he strode in like he owned the place—actually he did; the building was one of the many rental properties owned by the Crescent Moon pack. I'd realized that when I moved in, Dorian booked the place, so staying here wasn't intentional, but I guess Dorian knew how to plan coincidences. “So…” I started, shutting the door, “What brings you here?”“Taking an apartment on one of our properties, huh? Is that a strategy to get closer to my sister?” Ambrose said, already relaxed on one of the couches, his voice cold. “Funny,” I chuckled, taking a seat on one of the couches across from him, “actually, I heard your houses had the tightest security and perfect interior decor, so why not?” A smug smile formed on my lips. He eyed me warily, and it only made my smile grow wider. “You care for a drink? I got whatever Roseville stores had to offer.”“And you think offering me a drink is the best decision you can make after catching you touching my sister.” Ambros

[ Nicholas POV ] “Deal.”I said it immediately she pronounced the last word. Watched something flicker across her face—she was expecting resistance, maybe even hoping for it. Resistance would have given her something to push against.I wasn't going to give her that. She held my gaze for three seconds longer than necessary and then looked down at the file. I picked up my coffee. The evening light was doing something unreasonable to her face, and I made a point of looking elsewhere.Kyle was insufferably smug.“Strictly business,” I said again, mostly to myself.“Exactly.” She didn't look up.Right. Just right. My own mate made me sign a deal not to develop feelings that were already enforced by the bond she hasn't yet recognized, and I don't know why that is. But maybe it's for the best—if she knows I'm her mate now, she might reject us, and I don't want that. I don't want this bond now either, but it seemed like the Moon Goddess chose to punish me for my sins in the best way possib

{ Nicholas POV } I was done. I was done pretending I don't want this woman in my life right now. I was done denying that I wanted her— not because of the mate bond. Fact is, I was jealous of Kyle. Maybe the Moon goddess' idea of preventing her from recognizing me was actually good, I wanted her to love me for me not because some force is pulling us together. I want to make her fall for me. I kept one eye on the road as my Mustang sped along the highway, while the other remained fixed on her. She sat next to me in the front seat, giving me a perfect view of her soft features—round face, soft lips and thick long lashes fanning her cheeks, her deep brown eyes focused on the road. Fuck the deal. She can try to run all she wants. I'd love to play this hide and seek game with her because I'm definitely going to catch her. The wind blew softly from the car's windows fanning her hair backwards just enough to reveal her slender neck. My eyes trailed along it slowly, I imagined how beauti
