   AURORA Damien's eyebrows shot up. He stared at me, and I stared back, and neither of us said anything. I saw the question in his eyes—what are you doing? Why are you doing this? What do you want?—but I didn't have an answer. I didn't even know why I said yes.  I mean, it was him! It was his family!   AURORA  My alarm went off at six the next morning, and I slapped the snooze button, almost breaking my phone. I spent the whole night staring at the ceiling. I now know every crack and scratch by heart and how many there were.
